Staub's innovative enamel coating takes cast-iron cooking to the next level with improved performance, style and durability. The large center spike of this pan radiates heat through the center of a chicken or other poultry for remarkably even cooking.

- Ideal for use on any cooktop, including induction; not recommended for glass stove tops.
- Oven and broiler safe up to 500°F.
- For best results use low to medium heat.
- When using high heat, bring pans slowly to a high temperature.
- Use plastic, wood or nylon utensils only; metal utensils may damage the enamel.
- Enamel may chip or crack if banged against a hard surface.
- Handles and knobs can become very hot. Always use pot holder or glove when handling.
- Allow pan to cool before washing.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Stubborn stains can be removed by soaking your pot for a few minutes in hot, soapy water.
- Completely dry pan before storing.
- Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads, harsh detergents, bleach or abrasive cleaners.

Staub traces its origin to the Alsace region of France, where founder Francis Staub designed his first enameled pot while working in an old French artillery factory in 1974. With the goal of creating the perfect pot for cooking the region's traditional hearty soups, stews and braises, he combined cast iron, the most popular material of the time, with the latest enameling technology available. Today, Staub still makes its cookware at a traditional atelier in France, casting each pot in an individual sand mold, which is heated to 800°F and destroyed after use. The exterior enamel coating is made with glass powder and mineral pigments, applied in two or three coats to generate brilliant glossy colors.

I am a huge fan of Staub cookware and was the benefits if having a section of cast iron inside the chicken for quicker roasting. I rubbed some oil on the outside of the bird, used some seasoning to stick to the skin and roasted at 325. The chicken cooked much quicker using the vertical roaster. I was also rewarded with some great roasting juices collected at the bottom of the roaster which I used for gravy and then broth in my leftover soup. I bought two of these to replace my Weber chicken roasters. I love them. We've used them in the oven and on the charcoal grill. We've used them with the breast facing up and down. The chicken is always juicy. You can roast your veggies in a separate with the juices from the bottom of the roaster. After I got over being annoyed, I decided to put the bird on there at a preheated 375 oven and just go for it, of course praying I don't crack it. It was so moist and juicy and very flavorful. I find that this cooked the chicken to perfection because of the cast iron spike being inside. OMG I can not tell you how amazing the chicken came out. I cant wait to try a duck!! If you love good food GET THIS PAN! After eating that delicious meal last night I decided to forgive Staub and email customer service for some concrete instructions! LOL.... I just cooked on this Staub vertical roaster a chicken that was so moist, so beautiful, so aromatic...I told my husband I will cook one a week as it was just....perfect! Breast meat so juicy and full of flavor! Cleanup was simple and quick! I used the recipe in the instruction booklet and had a 5 pound chicken that had more than enough room in the roaster. Plenty of room for any juices to be contained too. Be sure to rub the inside of the bird with herbs and lemon juice and you will have a real treat! No sticking at all on the pan. I love all my Staub! I got the grey shade, as it matches several other grey Staub pieces I have. Highly recommend! This roaster makes the best chicken I've ever had. I just use olive oil, inside and out, and loads of lemon -pepper. 450 degrees for 15 minutes and then turn down the oven to 350 degrees. cook about 15 minutes per pound. Oh my....it is delicious. The pan cleans up easily too. We have roast chicken almost every week now. Use a roasting chicken, not a fryer, for best results.Date published: 2015-06-12
