Staub's innovative enamel coating takes cast-iron cooking to the next level with improved performance, style and durability. A heavy lid to seal in moisture paired with heat-retaining cast iron make this oven ideal for slow-cooking homemade chili or a hearty stew.
- Heavyweight enameled cast iron transfers and retains heat evenly.
- Color selections feature multicoat enameling for a glossy, vibrantly colored "majolique" exterior finish that resembles fine ceramics; Matte Black selection features low-gloss matte enameled finish.
- Interior surface is matte-black enamel that is resistant to rust, chipping and cracking and does not require additional seasoning.
- Traces of quartz on enameled interior provide additional heat resistance and create a textured surface for improved browning.
- Dozens of precisely placed bumps on the lid's interior funnel evaporated juices directly back down on top of food for moist, tender results.
- Dishwasher safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BayAreaBaker from Love the newest color! I have numerous Staub cocottes in various sizes and colors (a bit of a collector, lol). The new color of cranberry is lovely. It is not as stark as the cherry and is a true cranberry color. If you have a Wolf range with the red knobs, it is about the same shade as the knobs and looks stunning on the stove top. Now, looks aside, you can’t beat Staub for quality and cooking ability. I use the 4 quart cocottes to make my no-knead bread, several loaves at a time. The loaves come out beautifully with a good crust and crumb. Staub excels at casserole-type dishes such as mac and cheese. Clean up is easy....just allow the cocotte to sit for a while (or overnight) and wash out gently with a sponge the next morning. Easy peasy. I know some people prefer another French brand because of their light interior, but I prefer the dark as stains don’t show. I have never had and problem with being able to judge if something is browning adequately. Take careful care of your quality cookware (recommend hand washing) and it will serve you well (and probably your offspring). Note, I have owned Staub for many years, but just received the cranberry one last week. My reviews as to use are based on all my Staub cocottes/braisers/roasting pans. All are superb, it’s your choice as to color(s). Enjoy!Date published: 2019-11-09Rated 1 out of 5 by Junipy from Not the quality I'd expect for the price I got this from my parents for a Christmas gift 3 or 4 years ago. The pot is very attractive and I got it in "Graphite." Within a year the edges rusted and the knob on the lid (which is a little small considering the weight of the lid) rusted inside the lid but since it happened when it wasn't screwed in all the way, the lid would spin whenever I'd pick it up. My only option was to send this heavy lid back to the manufacturer. I didn't because of the expense and the pot was otherwise (mostly) functional. About a year ago a piece of the interior flaked off. This pot was never nonstick despite following recommended use and care instructions but the flaking was the last straw. I'm only rating this one star because of the price. I've owned much less expensive enamel cast iron pots for several years and never had any issues with them. Very disappointing.Date published: 2019-01-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Viktouria from Loving Staub I own several Staub Iron round cocotte along with others and mine has never rusted. I am careful with cleaning. I also have owned some of mine over 3 years and have yet to experience any kind of rust. I have the tea pot the frying pan 2 round cocotte and 2 pots. I find this product on the expensive side however beautiful cookware awesome colors that match my kitchenDate published: 2018-10-30Rated 2 out of 5 by Kate from Rusts! I do like cooking in this pot, but it rusts every time I use it. I've followed every, single suggestion for using it too: followed oiling instructions before first use, slow heating, only wooden utensils, and I never put it in the dishwasher even though that's supposed to be fine. I was under the impression that the interior coating would prevent that. I contacted the company and sent a picture and they think I might have defective pot, but I have to send it to them to find out. I'm very disappointed; I could have spent a LOT less money on a noncoated Lodge but didn't want to have to deal with the rusting, as I've never had any luck seasoning a new cast iron pan. I guess I'll send it back, but WHAT A HASSLE!Date published: 2018-09-05Rated 2 out of 5 by molly from Love and Disappointment This was a wedding gift from my father... I love Staub products but I am disappointed in this cocotte. The enamel coating has come off with just a few uses. I have always brought it up to heat gradually, yet it looks scorched. The cast iron is beginning to rust in spots. The bottom of the pot looks as though it has melted, too. I use an electric range. This pot is definitely NOT resistant to rust or heat.Date published: 2018-08-12Rated 5 out of 5 by TheVig from Great addition to our Staub collection Purchased the 9 qt. round in sesame. It pairs well with the 8-1/2 qt. oval Staub we purchased a couple of months ago.Date published: 2018-07-15Rated 5 out of 5 by kkcathey from Gorgeous! My new 5 1/2 qt. pot in Le Mer arrived yesterday and it is absolutely gorgeous. It is a better size for me than the 4 qt. and the color is mesmerizing. I love it. And it's not too heavy. So thrilled with Staub's quality. Cooking in Staub pots makes me a better cook. Food always turns out better in Staub.Date published: 2018-05-15Rated 5 out of 5 by DBorlando from 3 different sizes... exceptional quality It’s been about a year since I’ve purchased over 30 pieces of Staub cookware, including round and oval cocottes (French ovens), Heritage Braiser, Fish Pan, Universal Pan, Perfect Pan, Steam Grill and Griddle, 10” Fry Pan, 13” Double-Handle Fry Pan, Mini-Cocottes, Sauce Pot, Petite Pot, large and small Square Grill Pans, Round and Oval plates . I know there’s some overlap in what I’ve gotten, but it’s nice to have options, especially as a novice-to-intermediate cook. Consistenently high-quality throughout all of these pieces. I cook on a 36” induction... all pieces provide exceptional even heat distribution. The glazed exterior finishes are stunning, but high-maintainence to keep wiped down. The dark matte interiors look sharp and hide stains, albeit not ideal for fonding. Although I’ve yet to max-out the oven temp at 500 degrees with any of these, they work superbly between 400-450 degrees and retain heat extremely well. The raised spikes found in some of the lids (like the cocottes) are not gimmicky... they create moisture drops back onto the food. Because of the high-gloss finish, any of the non-Black pieces, risk getting chipped, if you’re not careful or if you have difficulty handling the sizeable weight. NOTE: The larger-sized pieces (over 4 qts) may not be suitable for frail people or those with arthritis. Lifting, storing and maneuvering them can be, not only be challenging, but even dangerous. The same issue applies for the fry pans (skillets), in which one might want to get a double-handle fry pan, which also comes in handy for less crowding of the stove top or oven. They all are easy to clean, although the non-stick doesn’t live up to expectations. But a small amount of seasoning with oil will make a huge difference. Overall, I’m highly satisfied with the Staub collection.Date published: 2018-04-29
I am vascillating between the 4 qt Staub Cocotte & the 5 1/2 qt in same. I want to use for cooking corned beef & cabbage, pot roast dinner-dishes like that. Generally cooking for one, but sometimes have a couple of friends over for a meal. Any suggestionsThe 4-qt cocotte is great for smaller roasts for up to 4 people, but it's not large enough to cook for a crowd.Date published: 2019-11-18
Used to pot maybe 5 times, cleaning and using as directed and it appears the interior coating is chipping. my older staub oval dutch oven has the numbers "12 1/4 31" on the top. What does this translate to in quarts?Hi kuma, The first number is the distance in inches from one side of the oven to the other. The second number represents the capacity of the oven. 12 ¼ is the inches from side to side. 31 is 6.75 qts. This is an estimate because the ranges have changed over the years and each mold is hand-made and one of a kind.Date published: 2019-10-08
How does the 9qt round compare in effective size to the 7qt oval? Will a large whole chicken fit in the 9qt round?Hi Polly, A chicken would fit in both. 10 lbs roughly.Date published: 2019-02-22
How many will 4 qt. serve? It only good for heating sauces and small things. Honestly the 5.5qt or 7qt. would be better.Date published: 2019-02-22
