Staub's innovative enamel coating takes cast-iron cooking to the next level with improved performance, style and durability. This petite French oven is perfect for cooking grains and other sumptuous sides. The round bottom and textured lid are similar in design to the traditional Japanese cast-iron tool for cooking rice – both circulate and distribute moisture for fluffy, airy and delicious results. The oven is also great for simmering jams, soups and stews.

- Ideal for use on any cooktop, including induction; not recommended for glass stove tops.
- Oven and broiler safe up to 500°F.
- For best results, use low to medium heat.
- When using high heat, bring pan slowly to a high temperature.
- Use plastic, wood or nylon utensils only; metal utensils may damage the enamel.
- Enamel may chip or crack if banged against hard surfaces.
- Handles and knobs can become very hot. Always use potholder or glove when handling.
- Allow pan to cool before washing.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Stubborn stains can be removed by soaking pot for a few minutes in hot, soapy water.
- Completely dry pan before storing.
- Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads, harsh detergents, bleach or abrasive cleaners.

It’s perfect for cooking grains and it’s just enough for 1 or 2 meals worth for our family of 4 or a batch of quinoa, millet, buckwheat, or farro for my week’s worth of work lunches. It makes perfect grains, due to the little droplets collecting in swirl patter on the bottom of the lid, not boiling over but reintroducing moisture back into the grains. Perfect every time. It looks pretty and doesn’t take a lot of space. My mother who was visiting for Holidays had her eye on it, so I gave it to her, thinking I’ll buy another one for myself. I paid quite a bit less than it is now so I ended up buying a small Staub pot with the glass lid, it’s a bit bigger but we’ll see how it does in my kitchen. I love all my Staub pots and pans which I must confess I have several. I used to be a LeCreuset fan (they have great customer service) but enameled pots tend to burn on the bottom. I was blown away with the beautiful Sapphire Blue color and it seemed to be very high quality. However, I have noticed that after only 2 uses, there is slight rusting at 4 different places around the top of the rim. I am usually pretty good about drying completely, so I am not very pleased. I was about to purchase a larger one in Grenadine, but I think I’ll stick with Le Crueset. I haven’t had issues with those. I bought this pot to replace a high end non-stick coated pot of similar size. I wanted something with a more durable cooking surface that wouldn't degrade with use. So far the enameled interior of this pot works beautifully! I thought I would use it primarily to make rice dishes, but it's been perfect for soups, stews, curries, as well as rice. When following the use instructions provided by Staub, use and clean-up are a breeze. It does weigh a bit more than anodized aluminum, but it also cooks better. I'm looking forward to years of cooking. They look more sophisticated than Le Creuset, have the black enamel interior (easier to clean and hides stains), and the underside of the lids have spikes for condensation to keep the food moist. The Petite French Oven is the best cookware I've ever cooked rice in. It's also ideal for simmering stews and soups. Is this french oven really only 4 1/4" diameter? That seems too tiny for the stews and rice people have said they use the pot for.The dimensions for the petite cast iron French Oven is 6.4 X 4.7 X 3.2" It is ideal for dinner for one or two.Date published: 2019-04-22
