- More about Staub
Staub traces its origin to the Alsace region of France, where founder Francis Staub designed his first enameled pot while working in an old French artillery factory in 1974. With the goal of creating the perfect pot for cooking the region’s traditional hearty soups, stews and braises, he combined cast iron, the most popular material of the time, with the latest enameling technology available. Today, Staub still makes its cookware at a traditional atelier in France, casting each pot in an individual sand mold, which is heated to 800°F and destroyed after use. The exterior enamel coating is made with glass powder and mineral pigments, applied in two or three coats to generate brilliant glossy colors.

Staub Cast-Iron Pumpkin Cocotte
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lynne from Seriously Adorable! I pondered purchasing these cocottes for weeks. I finally decided to buy the 1/2 quart size. The 1/2 quart size is perfect for first course portions like soups, the 3/4 quart size is big enough for entree size portions. They are also perfect for dips or other snack items! The quality is outstanding, and expected from Staub. The color is pumpkin and not too bright orange and pairs well with a fall table. The lids fit perfectly, and as a bonus Staub put a stem on the top with a curve that makes lifting off the lid easy for guests. One point about the lid, when the lid is taken off it becomes a bowl with a wide opening for guests to easily eat out of. They are dishwasher/microwave and oven safe. Therefore you can use them for fall crisp desserts or even bread and serve from oven to table. And the clean up is a snap with the dishwasher safe. We use these weekly for fall soups and they have become a fall tradition our family looks forward to.Date published: 2017-10-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Kay K from Beautiful Pumpkin Cocotte Can't express how beautiful and useful this cocotte is. One of the best touch in my fall decorated kitchen.Date published: 2017-09-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Greta6652 from Staub 3/4 Qt. Pumpkin Cocotte Review Originally bought the new White Pumpkin. 3/4 qt. Cocotte. Got it home & it looks so "bland!" It's a "refrigerator" white. Exchanged it for the orange/rust & it's spectacular! Subtle shades of orange & rust...a real show piece!Date published: 2016-10-24Rated 5 out of 5 by DLLW from Adorable for fall decor and serving! I ordered two of these ceramic cocottes to use for serving (I can imagine serving soup in them, using them for something like cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving, etc.) and also as decor on my tabletop when not in use. I love them! I had been a little nervous to order them at first, after seeing the negative reviews from last year where people said the lids did not fit well. I don't know if Staub did something to improve the lids this year, but I did not have that problem. The lids fit very nicely. I'm very pleased with these. They look great with my cast iron pumpkin cocotte as well.Date published: 2016-09-12Rated 5 out of 5 by donnablueribbon from Elegant and Useful This pumpkin cocotte is absolutely gorgeous! It is heavy and perfect for the fall season. Cinderella would have loved this pumpkin!Date published: 2015-11-08Rated 3 out of 5 by AMCris from Beautiful piece, however... Just received a pair of these pumpkin cocottes. The pieces I received are cream colored pumpkins - there isn't even a color option when ordering these so I don't know how I got this color. I wanted the pretty orange color pumpkin cocottes as shown online and in the mailed catalogs so I will be returning. As other reviewers have noted, the lids do not sit nicely on the cocotte, even if you rotate the lid to try to match the grooves so I probably would have returned them anyways.Date published: 2015-10-08Rated 4 out of 5 by SuSu2 from Very attractive but loose lids I have 4 of the 1/2 qt size and have used them only for soup, so far. The soup stayed warm while the handles remained cool to touch making them easy to bring to the table already filled. I plan on using them for warm dips and baked eggs, too. My only complaints are that they are made in China and the lids don't fit well.Date published: 2015-09-06Rated 5 out of 5 by meannie from little stab pumpkin great quality and so very cute! getting in the mood for fallDate published: 2015-08-25
