Rated 5 out of 5 by cmcinc from Best Fish ever cooked in this gratin! I love this gratin. Not only is it beautiful but it cooks fish to perfection. I absolutely love it. Fish comes out perfect every time.Date published: 2019-05-21Rated 5 out of 5 by LindaMcK from Beautiful to look at. Beautiful to cook with. Arrived today and I feel like a kid at Christmas. I have several LeCrueset pieces and this is my first Staub. I am in love with this piece of bakeware. The deep marine color is more beautiful in person than the photo. I made a potato au gratin casserole in it tonight and it cooked perfectly. Lifted right out of the pan and easy, easy cleanup. I will be using this gratin baker often and, hopefully, for many years to come. I would give it 10 stars if I could.Date published: 2019-05-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Lorifran57 from Beautiful pot So I had gotten this beautiful Staub Bass pot the other day. I switched out the regular knob for the fish knob. I am normally a Le Creuset pot person but after having this pot I am definitely in love. I made a perch/rockfish in it with oil cured oilives, fiddle heads, shiitake mushrooms, garlic. Even though the pot is big the fish was bigger LOL. I had to cut off the tail and put it in the pot. It came out with a nice crisp outer skin. Almost no effort. I can also say it tasted awesome. I have used the pot for other dishes as well including lamb w/okra and cauliflower rice. It does anything I ask of it. My friends have been visiting and get take their hands off the pot. It weighs a bit but that is what cast iron is all about. The interior coating is the marvel on Staub and I'm in love.Date published: 2019-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Debbie from Beautiful and functional! I have been watching this item for several months. I splurged on this as a gift to myself and it is beautiful ! I had been looking for a cast-iron pan to cook a whole fish, that was low profile and oval. This is perfect, but I also plan to use it for roasted vegetables and as a casserole since it can be beautifully used as a serving dish. I will clean out my kitchen and discard a few unused baking dishes and cooking pans to make room for this and more! It really is gorgeous. Thanks for putting it on sale!Date published: 2019-02-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Pippa from Julia Childs I’m Not But I Feel Like Her I’ve been eyeing this pan for quite some time. Knowing that my husband procrastinates at Christmas, I held my breath that it would still be available. I finally lured him into a store and showed him this beauty. Casually mentioning how “really good a rainbow trout might taste from this pan with a nice white wine”. He took the bait hook, line and sinker! It’s a beautiful addition to my lake house kitchen and I expect to use it on many occasions. Heavy, yet mobile. Browns evenly, and perfectly. I made a large frittata and it worked fantastically. Will make an au gratin potato dish with creamy roasted chicken soon. I missed the Stag embossed 5qt but pray it comes back. I will use the line, “Oh, I imagine that will make a beautiful and delicious Elk lasagna!” to see where it gets me!Date published: 2018-12-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Le Creuset lover from PTC from Love that this has a lid I have tons of Le Creuset and fewer pieces of Staub. Le Creuset has the colors that I love, but Staub performs just as well if not better and more consistently offers lids at a slightly lower price point. I have Le Creuset cast iron shallow oval roasters and au Gratin pans that are similar to this piece that were quite a bit more expensive and which came without a lid. For me, I use the lids to prevent extra browning, to retain moisture, to retain heat when serving, and of course for storage. I love that I will not have to use foil or some type of plastic wrap with this. It would be smart of Staub to match Le Creuset's most popular colors such as cerise, especially in items such as this one which clearly outclasses the competitive offering.......... so that it is easier for us to incorporate Staub into our existing collections.Date published: 2018-07-20Rated 5 out of 5 by 7EmceeGee from Awesome fish pan I already have two Staub fish pans that are fantastic. I bought this one because it is larger and could fit a whole fish. I am very satisfied at how well this one performed. Amazing results. The fish was cooked frozen and I didn't thaw it. I ran the fish under cold water to dissolve ice crystals, patted it dry with a paper towel, seasoned it, put it into the hot oiled pan skin side down, placed the lid and left it on the stovetop on medium heat for 16 minutes without peeking. Fish skin was surprisingly crispy, and the flesh was moist and flakey. Delicious meal. The fish released easily with a firm spatula. Clean up was easy. I am looking forward to the next use of this pan! Another great Staub product to my growing collection.Date published: 2018-05-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Samster from Beautiful Piece of Cookware I love the idea of creating cookware with art. The seabass is beautiful and adds that extra special touch. The piece is great for making dips or roasting vegetables. The interior is durable and browns the food well. The pan is heavy and substantial. The color is unique and stunning. It's on display in my kitchen.Date published: 2018-05-19
Are the La Mer and the Sapphire identical in size or is one larger than the other? The capacity for both colors is the same at 2.25 QT, the length is 12.5".Date published: 2019-04-29
Where could you get fish recipes specifically for use with this dish? Unfortunately None came with it.
