  • Rated 5 out of 5 by from My magic pot! I asked for this French Oven for Christmas based on the reviews I read here on the WS site. This pot is absolutely amazing! Everything I have cooked in it has come out delicious. I've made Coq Au Vin, Beef Bourguignon, Pork Roast, Beef Stew, Herb Whole Chicken and received rave reviews from those who consumed the meals. It is expensive but worth every single penny. Also, I have a glass top electric stove and am extremely careful when using it. The pot is heavy and you really need to take care not to drop or slide it around on the stove. I love it and highly recommend it. I also bought the covered braiser and am waiting for just the right sale on the 6 qt. cocotte which will be my next purchase! The color grenadine is stunning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs exceptionally well I purchased this product at my local W/S store in the Grenadine finish. Wow, Beautiful color. The interior is black enamel. The Staub French oven features a lid that is spiked inside to provide a redistribution of moisture to your food while it is cooking. This feature is rarely found in other French ovens. Staub products perform exceptionally well, and are priced at a very reasonable price. Meticulous craftsmanship in the old world tradition. Highly recommended for the discerning chef.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful And Exceeds Functionality I recently purchased this Dutch oven because I saw it was on sale and I wanted to invest in a high quality product that would last me for years. I have been eyeing Le Creuset's Dutch ovens for some time until I read all the reviews for the Staub iron cast cookware raving about it's unique features (dark interior for better braising, textured inner lid which aids to baste your food with additional moisture). Additionally, I loved the deep colors of the Staub Dutch oven line more than the Le Creuset Dutch ovens even though there are more colors to choose from the Le Creuset line. So I took the plunge and ordered my first quality piece of cookware from Staub and I was not disappointed. My order came within three days, and right out the box, you can really tell that Staub's Dutch oven is a well made product. [Staub's Dutch oven is of] Solid construction and heft, the majolique finish is absolutely stunning (I ordered mine in the Sapphire Blue color) and it cooked my first meal to perfection. Clean up was a breeze and I love that the interior of the cookware is dark to resist staining and discoloration during cooking. I even followed the instructions that came with my Dutch oven to brush the interior with light plant-based oil (I used vegetable oil) to further enhance the non-stick quality of the interior. This was simply a recommendation from the instruction booklet, but in my mind if this cookware is a personal investment to last forever then why not follow through. I look forward to putting this pot to good routine use and I am now sold as a Staub cookware enthusiast! I plan on adding the larger cocotte and braiser to my staple cookware collection. I'm a very happy with my decision to purchase Staub's cookware and look forward to purchasing again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I Expected. Versatile. Well Made. I've become a big fan of Staub after being a fairly loyal user of Le Creuset. Deep and rich color and the even heating you expect from cast iron. Interior appears durable but I'll admit I haven't used it long enough to give a long term evaluation. So far it's everything they say it is. The shape also makes it pretty versatile for a few different cooking applications. It's cast iron so there is a bit of heft to it, but that's to be expected so I don't really consider that a negative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Dutch Oven The look of this pot (I have the gray one) made me swoon -- it is so beautiful. It functions beautifully as well. My husband, the dishwasher, commented on its heft and quality build as well as its ease of cleaning. It's not as large as my knock-off LeCreuset but it works for our downsized family of two and manages a typical batch of bolognese.

  • The website says "Ideal for use on any cooktop, including induction; not recommended for glass cooktops". Induction cooktops all have a glass surface... Is "not recommended for glass cooktops" referring only to electric glass cooktops and why?

    Asked by: CB1022
Hi CB1022, Although cast-iron pans will heat up on induction cooktops, we don’t recommend this for ANY glass cooktop (electric or induction). The weight of cast-iron may cause damage such as scratching the top of the cooktop from sliding the heavy pot across it or breaking the glass if the pot is dropped on it.
