- Oven and broiler safe up to 500°F.
- For best results use low to medium heat.
- When using high heat, bring pans slowly to a high temperature.
- Use plastic, wood or nylon utensils only; metal utensils may damage the enamel.
- Enamel may chip or crack if banged against a hard surface.
- Handles and knobs can become very hot. Always use pot holder or glove when handling.
- Allow pan to cool before washing.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Stubborn stains can be removed by soaking your pot for a few minutes in hot soapy water.
- Completely dry pan before storing.
- Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads, harsh detergents, bleach or abrasive cleaners.

Staub traces its origin to the Alsace region of France, where founder Francis Staub designed his first enameled pot while working in an old French artillery factory in 1974. With the goal of creating the perfect pot for cooking the region's traditional hearty soups, stews and braises, he combined cast iron, the most popular material of the time, with the latest enameling technology available. Today, Staub still makes its cookware at a traditional atelier in France, casting each pot in an individual sand mold, which is heated to 800°F and destroyed after use. The exterior enamel coating is made with glass powder and mineral pigments, applied in two or three coats to generate brilliant glossy colors.

These are perfect for home and aboard my sailboat. They're heavy so stay in place, and lids are tight so condensation is not as problematic. I heat what I'm cooking up on Med high, , turn the heat on low or off. That's it. Takes little fuel to cook. I've had these for as many years as you've carried them I believe. I've given them for gifts. Very nice gifts. People are grateful. Have had no chipping. The sailing crowd is impressed with the size and practicality. I recommend them highly. I have two colors the dark red and cobalt blue. They're really terrific. I've used them camping too, borrowing a ceramic tagine lid from my store of international cookware to top the round pan and prepare a spicy tagine at the picnic table. Can't go wrong. Received the 4qt sapphire braiser as a Christmas gift last year and have been using it almost every day since. I use it to stir-fry, fry, bake...it's my absolute favorite piece of cookware. The day I received it I used to it make Williams Sonoma's potato leek gratin recipe for christmas dinner. Most recently I used it to make Fine Cooking's baked haricot vert (forgot to take a pic of the final dish) and even used it to make sukiyaki. I've made an apple,pear,cranberry crisp in it and will be using again in a week for a repeat of the potato leek gratin for our Christmas dinner. I've used it for buttermilk pancakes....you name it and you could most likely cook it in this braiser. Several years ago I purchased the staub 4 piece set. I use those pieces maybe twice a month. Honestly, all you need is this braiser and a large cocotte (7qt or larger) and you're pretty much set for cast iron. The first day I made a sausage and grape tomato sauce for pasta and the next I cooked swiss chard. Both dishes called for different techniques and I was extremely happy with the results. My sausage and tomatoes were seared perfectly and my chard braised just right. Clean up was a dream, let the pot cool and washed with warm soapy water. I was excited to put it into good use. However, it takes a really long time until it brings to a boil. I did not season it after use and the food started to stick on the surface. It took me a long time to clean up. After a few use and wash, I realized it has rust on it. I was so disappointed and took it back to the store. The manager helped me to season it and it looked all pretty again. However, it didn't slove the problem. The rust is still there and food continues to stick. Sigh, I regreted buying this so much and wished I had bought Le Cresuet instead. And now, I just put it into my pantry for storage. I found that some pieces are used more frequently then the others. Both braisers (2.75 ,and 4 qt) top the list for usage. I even bought a decorative fish knob for the smaller braiser to make it look pretty since it is being used so much. I use the smaller one for both cooking on a cooktop as well as baking upside down fruit desserts (it is perfect 9" diameter for baking needs).
