Rated 5 out of 5 by Cookie Master from How To: Cut cookies out on parchment paper... individually and then move to cookie sheet....works like a charm and keeps its shapeDate published: 2019-01-23Rated 5 out of 5 by girlluvs2shop from No issues! I bought this cookie cutter along with the tree and gingerbread man. I was worried upon reading the negative reviews that the nutcracker would give me problems. I made sugar cookies with my 3 yr old boys and we cut them out with all 3 cookie cutters. None of them really gave us any problems, but I can see where one could get frustrated working with these. There are lots of holes and crevices, and they’re large cookies, so they can be fragile. I found that rolling your dough a bit thicker than your recipe says, helps. This will ensure your large size cookies won’t break as easily. And be very careful when transferring the cut out cookie to your pan. It takes patience! I also think the gingerbread man makes the cutest and most detailed cookie!Date published: 2018-12-27Rated 1 out of 5 by Huff from Poorly Engineered. Cute, but not very functional. I have wanted a nutcracker cookie cutter for a long time and excited to find this, Like the previous reviewer stated it's a fun shape and size. However, the details (specifically the cutout / negative space areas) compromise the cookie structure. Using the right dough recipe you can get around this with patience and experience. However, even so, the baked and cooled cookie is weakened in several areas (mainly waist and face next to mustache). The cookie is fragile and breaks at these points even when extreme care is used in baking, decorating, and packaging. I thought a solution to the problem would be to replace the dough where the cutter removes it, but the dough remains and builds up in the cutter. Very cut cutter, but not very functional. A simpler contour shape or press might be better.Date published: 2018-12-10Rated 1 out of 5 by DanceMom from Great shape and size, BUT...... Very excited to try this cookie cutter to make gifts for my daughter’s Nutcracker performance. The cutter is a great size for gift cookies and love the traditional shape. Wish the cutter would have had either removable or adjustable punches as did not wish to punch out all the features. Some of the areas that were recessed to stamp the cookie were not set back enough and punched through the entire cookie or weakened the cookie in those areas resulting in cookie breakage when cool. Very disappointing. Ended up taking all the insides out of the cutter to make it work for the 150 cookies I made. Wish they offered a less expensive option for those who just want a traditional nutcracker cookie cutter.Date published: 2018-11-17
