From France, this white porcelain dinnerware is as sturdy as it is stylish. These bowls feature a classic coupe design with a gentle contour and sleek rim. Thanks to an innovative formulation of various clays, the porcelain's delicate appearance belies its strength. Rated 3 out of 5 by DaveL from Not a good product Concur with other reviews. The collection holds up well, except for these bowls. Two of eight have chipped. Not a good percentage.Date published: 2019-02-06Rated 1 out of 5 by txgirl1999 from Chipped bowls - 8 out of 14 have chipped I've had these bowls since March 2015. A few months in I had to replace 2 bowls. Now I have 6 more chipped bowls and I'm trying to figure out what to do. So out of a total of 14 bowls purchased, I have had 8 bowls chip on the top edges. I don't want to repurchase the same bowls and have the same issues. We have not had the same issue with the other dishes we bought - I bought 12 cereal bowls (plus the 2 additional ones to replace chipped ones), 12 pasta bowls, 12 dinner plates and 12 salad plates. I have had one salad plate chip but that is all - to have one chip is normal wear and tear in my opinion. However, there is something about the bowls that make them not as durable - to have that percentage of bowls chip and some bowls chipping in multiple places tells me it's a quality issue with these coupe bowls. I would NOT recommend them.Date published: 2019-01-20Rated 1 out of 5 by The Riccis from Buyer Beware! I own the majority of the pieces in the Pillivuyt Coupe collection. These bowls do not hold up. The rims of my bowls are riddled with chips after only a year and no children in our home. My advice: seek alternative cereal bowls. FYI - The rest of the set has held up beautifully.Date published: 2018-06-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Kiki from We love these bowls! Our family of 4 has been using these as everyday bowls for years. They look as beautiful as the day we bought them. Not one chip or crack. No discoloring. I was really surprised to read that others have had chipping or discoloring. I have accidentally hit these bowls hard against our faucet or sink with no damage. My husband and I are really pleased with how durable and strong they are.Date published: 2018-01-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Dodiepie from Pillivuyt Coupe dishes 7.5 years and going strong! My daughter selected and received 12 place settings of the Pillivuyt Coupe porcelain dishes as part of her bridal registry. These dishes are used all day everyday. No cracks, chips or stains. No breaking out the china for special occasions either, as the Pillivuyt Coupe is highly versatile...the set is used for both casual and formal meals. I must say when my daughter told me she was registering for white dishes...I thought plain. That is definitely not the case, as they are simply lovely....and highly functional! Great decision, Daughter!Date published: 2017-12-18Rated 2 out of 5 by Maggie from Chips 4 of our 12 bowls have chips on the rim just from normal use.Date published: 2017-10-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Chibouste from 7 years and going strong... My husband and I registered for Pillyvuyt place settings for our wedding 7.5 years ago. We use them as our everyday china and also for special occasions -- they are perfect in that they can do double duty. They get a ton of use and they still look beautiful. I haven't had any of the discoloration issues or markings some have written about and I wonder if the marks are coming from the dishwasher rack? The cereal bowls are lovely. They have a beautiful shape that's very pleasing to look at and to hold, and they are a perfect size -- not too large or too shallow. I can stack six bowls safely in the cupboard. When I take the Pillyvuyt pieces out of the dishwasher I am careful not to bang them together (i.e., I grab one plate at a time) and this seems to keep them from chipping. Yes, we have broken a couple plates, a bowl, and a mug here and there, but it was due to our own error. It's porcelain and it is extremely durable but it's still china.Date published: 2016-03-08Rated 2 out of 5 by Caroline5 from Too delicate for everyday use I really wanted dishes that were not made in China, and so I ignored the warnings in previous reviews and bought a few bowls that I resolved to be very, very careful with. They have been through the dishwasher just twice, and already one has a big chip in the rim. Nothing was touching it, but something must have shifted while washing. By contrast, my hand-painted earthenware, which I have had for many years, is chip-free, and every piece has been washed in the dishwasher. My conclusion is these dishes are really too delicate for everyday use and too expensive for as fragile as they are - I won't be buying more and wouldn't recommend them.Date published: 2016-02-08
