Rated 5 out of 5 by anjnak from Wow, I'm a believer. I bought the Philips Soup Maker because I was intrigued by the idea of getting silky smooth vegetable soups. My immersion blender and regular blender couldn't do this (and I know I would never use a Vitamix enough to splurge on that). However, I had a moment of regret when I unboxed this and set it up, thinking that a) broccoli soup probably wouldn't come out smooth and b) I could probably just make the same soup just as easily on the stove top. Man, was I wrong! I threw in some defrosted frozen broccoli, half a chopped up onion, a garlic clove, chicken broth to the max fill line -- along with some salt, pepper, and cayenne. What emerged 15-20 min later was some of the best broccoli soup I've ever had: tasty, rich, silky smooth -- without a drop of milk, cream, oil, or butter. I garnished with a bit of cheddar and it was absolute perfection. This isn't a gimmicky appliance, like I thought in my temporary moment of regret -- it's the real deal.Date published: 2019-05-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Kimmy C from Easy and Healthy Soups I received this for Christmas, I really am enjoying using this for quick and easy soups. The recipe book as a good variety of soups to get you started and I have made a few and they have all turned out really tasty. I do enjoy that most recipes just take a handful of ingredients and a lot utialize frozen veggies; this makes it very convienent for me. For instance the corn soup: frozen corn ( defrosted ), some diced onion and celery, milk and veggie broth... hit a button and sit down until it beeps. I find it easy to clean and does not take a lot of room to store. Quickly becoming one of my top kitchen gadgets; and I have a lot of gadgets to choose from.Date published: 2019-01-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Fabric43 from Amazing soups in 20 minutes! I bought this soup maker a few weeks ago, and we use it almost everyday. It is really easy to use: cut some fresh vegetables, add some left overs if you'd like, add water, milk or broth. Wait 20 minutes. Done. A tasty, creamy and healthy soup is ready. I'm now loosing weight, while eating healthy, and I love it. My mother tried it, and bought one, and is telling all her friends about it.Date published: 2018-10-12Rated 5 out of 5 by rocky from Best soup maker in the market I have owned three different soup makers (all made in China), and although the Philips Soup Maker is also made in China, it is the best one I have ever owned. I think that, although it is made in China, it is backed up by the Philips label. Have been using it now for a month now, at least once a week and it does exactly what it says it will do. My other two soup makers began burning the food at the bottom more and more until they became impossible to clean. I read a review that the Philips was burning the food at the bottom. This has not been the case for me but time will tell. I have been looking for a Philips soup maker for over a year now because a friend in Argentina owns one and has had it for years with great success, but the only Philips ones I have found are for 220V. Was very happy to find this one which is 110V and can be used in the US. I have ordered a second one!Date published: 2018-10-06Rated 4 out of 5 by Afarr from Soup in minutes I bought the unit 3 weeks ago and have made soup almost every day. It is fast and convenient. It can overcook broccoli and under cook potatoes in relation to other vegetables. Foods also have a tendency to stick to the bottom. Overall it is great.Date published: 2018-10-06Rated 5 out of 5 by LACC from Impressed The Soup Maker is thoughtfully designed and seems solid without being heavy. The product has similar proportions to a large kettle while also being compact and easy to store. The black/grey color is pleasing and discreet. The removable powercord is short - I do wish that this was longer. The controls are simple and intuitive - but it would have been nice if each function was labelled with writing and not just a symbol. I have made several of the included recipes and have found them to be very good. I was concerned about using raw, un-sautéed onion, but in each recipe it was fully cooked and tasted just fine. Trying to live a healthier lifestyle I like that it does not require oil. It does a good job of blending the soup to a smooth consistency. The device is very easy to clean. I was surprised at how much soup the device makes, with definitely enough for four generous servings. The device is quiet while coming to temperature and simmering away. Occasionally the blade will run, but the noise is not excessive. As a single person I do wish the device allowed for making a smaller two cup option. Overall I am very impressed and pleased with the functionality of the Soup Maker. I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys homemade soup.Date published: 2018-09-17Rated 4 out of 5 by bodisafa from Great idea, just missing a delay timer I'm loving the Soup Maker. It's very easy to get something tasty. I wish it had the ability to delay operation by hours and minutes, like a rice cooker. This way I could get into work, set the delay and have it ready for lunch.Date published: 2018-09-14
