Rated 4 out of 5 by TexasCook from Great for hollow styles I make pasta and have for years by hand. I wanted to have an automated way to produce macaroni and other types of hollow styles. This device is good at performing that type. It is lacking in the solid noodle. They come out too close together and usually stuck. I have stick to my hand style for noodles like spaghetti and others.Date published: 2019-10-12Rated 5 out of 5 by Crayon from So simple to use! First time I tried it was with company and we were all watching the pasta come out with amazement. Success the first time and so delicious! The rigatoni disc was so hard to clean! Looking forward to trying a new disc tomorrow for dinner.Date published: 2019-08-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Excellent product This exceeded my expectations! The machine was simple to use and the pasta was perfect!Date published: 2019-08-12Rated 5 out of 5 by dreadylock from easiest way to make pasta ever i love this machine it is by far the easiest way to make pasta it does all the mixing kneading and extrusion all the parts are real easy to clean and put together it's not really large but still takes some space on counter the dies for pasta extrusion are hefty and solid only problem with dies i really don't know which to use for sheetsDate published: 2019-06-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Professorsakura from This is a solid product As an Asian, I like make noodles. I have purchased many mechanical paste maker until I dive for this high-tech thing. It turns out very smart. As you learn to adapt to the machine, it runs beautifully.Date published: 2019-05-31Rated 5 out of 5 by KSB1 from Homemade Pasta in the time it takes to boil water! Put the pot of water on to boil, fill everything to the lines indicated in the cups and run the program. The flour starts mixing, you add the liquid slowly and in the time it takes for the water to boil, you have homemade pasta. Can’t beat that! Cleanup is easy as long as you wipe everything down right away with a dry cloth, before washing. We use it so often, it seldom leaves the counter. It was missing it’s recipe book (still waiting for it to arrive via mail), but the company supplied us with a pdf right away and with it, it’s pretty easy to make perfect pasta every time. We’ve tried almost all of the attachments, with lasagna being the only one we haven’t tried yet. Again... worth every penny if you’re a pasta eater.Date published: 2019-05-28Rated 5 out of 5 by TeresaH from Need a Larger Model I have reviewed quite a few machines, waited almost 6 months and decided to purchase this one, due to the number of dies available. I have my own blend of pasta flour that I use, so it was important that this machine could allow me to still use it. Out of the box, the machine was intimidating (reason for Not making fresh pasta), but I pressed on. I followed the recipe with the maker the first time and my batch of pasta and dinner was horrible, making my fears of fresh pasta valid, my poor husband ate it anyway and he is Italian. I waited for over a month before I thought about trying again. I had thought about what I did vs. what was wrong with the machine, answer was; I did not follow the directions and let it alone. I thought things looked very dry and being a baker, dry flour, add water. This is NOT how this machine works, do not add extra water. The second time I used it, I used the recipe and let the machine do it's thing (thick Die) and the results was Awesome. I make my own sauce in batches, so now I use this at least 3 times a week. I have used my own recipes, just using ratios (bakers percentages), weigh my ingredients and everything always turns out great. My only wish is, that this machine was bigger, as holding more than 500g of flour, I would love to batch and dry a lot of pasta over the weekend without multiple small batches and having to wait for a cool down time, kinda like my bread machine that does all my pizza dough for me :-) for a month worth of dough. I love this machine though and would purchase a larger or commercial size.Date published: 2019-05-19Rated 1 out of 5 by ProfBMD from hugely disapointing This has worked well with unflavored pasta made without eggs. But it has never worked when I have tried to make flavored pasta with eggs. I have followed directions and watched the video but still, the flour and liquid congeal inside the machine and nothing comes out. I'm going to the Williams Sonoma store and ask for a demonstration. I'd rather not return it but I will if I can't make flavored pasta.Date published: 2019-03-20
I only can eat whole wheat pasta. How would this work for that? Is the automated water egg guide only geared to white flour based pasta recipe? Wouldn’t whole wheat require more extrusion power? Just don’t want to be disappointed. Thanks. Hi Laura, Whole wheat pasta/noodles is of the many flour options you can create with your Philips Pasta Maker. The 1600 lb. extrusion force enabled by advanced engineering and strong build of the machine ensures not only a speedy process but also perfect taste and texture for all types of flours. Here is the recipe for whole wheat pasta/noodles: Flour 9 oz. (250g) whole wheat flour Fluid 3.35 oz. (95g): 1 egg + waterDate published: 2019-10-08
