Summary

Take your daily coffee with a touch of French tradition. Meticulously handcrafted with a rustic weathered finish, this wooden coffee mill is modeled after the very first grinder made by the Peugeot brothers in 1840. The famous Peugeot steel mechanism produces an exceptionally uniform grind, for brewed coffee with superb aroma and flavor.

  • Manual burr-type mill quickly cracks and grinds coffee beans to your desired consistency.
  • Stainless-steel grind mechanism produces a consistent, high-output grind.
  • Made of beech wood from PEFC-certified European forests and finished with an antiqued patina.
  • Fully adjustable grind from super fine to coarse; simply twist thumbwheel under handle.
  • Five-year warranty on mill; lifetime warranty on mechanism.

  • Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old fashioned coffee mill, makes perfect grounds. So for this amount of money, you could buy a lot of nice things at Williams Sonoma. And if you're looking for a coffee grinder, you can find some nice electric burr grinders in the same price range that will do as good of a job in less time and with less work; and for a lot less money you can get a decent hand crank grinder. But there is something about this particular grinder, as an object, that is so nice to hold in your hands. I like the hand-sanded edges, the screws that were screwed in by hand, the low-luster finish, even the little flaws in the beechwood. I mean, when was the last time you bought something that was hand made in France? Those words don't even make sense together, not in our current age. Now there are some things about the grinder that might not be optimal that you should know about. It does take a bit of force to turn the crank, and counter force to hold down the base. Sometimes I sit in a chair and hold the base of the grinder between my legs which makes it more stable. I like that I can feel the beans being cracked and ground. The drawer at the bottom is small and some of the grounds spill over the sides. I use a pastry brush to sweep the extra grounds into my pot; that seems to work just fine. It takes a few times to find the right adjustment between fine and coarse, but then it's perfect and the coffee tastes incredible. Also, it took two weeks to arrive after I ordered it. Remember: hand made in France. The grinding mechanism is super strong and it's nice to know it has a lifetime warranty.
