Rated 4 out of 5 by nylafl from easy use/wash BUT can't use bowl to catch spirals used this for the first time ystdy. what i like: (1) it assembles and disassembles easily; (2) all working parts are dishwasher safe; (3) it's very easy to use and makes nice noodles; (4) it has a container for the blades that stores in the spiralizer; and (5) it suctions to the table or countertop. however, the part that holds the vegetable and moves toward the blade has a base that slides on a track; the closer to the blade, the more the base protrudes under the blade, so the spirals fall onto the protrusion. it's impossible to place a bowl under the blade to catch the spirals. this is clearly shown in the item photo, but i didn't notice or understand what this would mean when the spiralizer is being used. i'm keeping the spiralizer, but would really have liked a product that let the spiralized vegetables fall into a bowl/onto a plate instead of having to use a cutting mat.Date published: 2018-10-27Rated 4 out of 5 by Garden Girl from Healthy eating! I returned another brand because it slipped/fell over on more than one occasion, a real safety issue. This OXO Spiralizer stays put when properly secured, what a difference! I deducted 1 star because I struggled with placement of a dish to catch the noodles as they fell. I have used it regularly for a month now but anticipate several years of trouble free use. I read through many reviews for another popular brand of 4 blade vs 3 blade spiralizer and decided to go for this one. This unit is easily and very securely suction locked on granite countertop unlike complaints about other brand. I have used it so far on hard beets, carrots, cucumber and zucchini for both ribbon and spaghetti cuts and it cuts like butter. The key to getting continuous spirals is being able to crank the handle without interruption once started. For that, good grip on the counter and on the handle spikes is key and this unit does it with ease. The blades are very sharp and look sturdy. The unit looks well made and the blades have a separate storage box. I quickly run hot tap water on the blades and unit right after use and it is clean! It may need mild soapy water intermittently but so far comes clean with only water. It has done a good job once with a slightly limpy cucumber too. Please note that with any spiralizer, you end up getting some "wastage" of product with a small core and a small piece of about half inch stub of vegetable at the end which cannot feed into the blade. I snack on those if you don't want to add to the dish. I read that with another brand of 4 blade unit, the core is designed to be smaller but also compromises on the stability of the vegetable (if a longer piece is fed on the unit) while spiralizing and hence ends up with broken spirals or a watery mush. I cannot vouch for that since I have not used it but that was the factor that made me choose a triblade version and foregoing the option of angel hair spirals with the 4th blade. It is a fun gadget to add to my collection of serious and fun cookware/gadgets. They did not have this one to demo. The Paderno did not adhere well to the surface and kept moving all around and appeared difficult to use. I had read that in the reviews. I decided to go with the OXO based on the reviews and what I saw in the class. I LOVE this spiralizer. It is easy to use. Easy to set up. Easy to clean. It adheres to my counter top well. I have used it to spiral zucchini and carrots. I have ribbon cut apples and pears. My family likes the thin apple slices. I am disappointed it is not carried in the W-S stores and not used in the class. I hope they change their minds about this.Date published: 2016-09-27
