Rated 1 out of 5 by Mamaa from Great potatoes My daughter bought this for me about six months ago, when they were stationed in California. It makes wonderful mashed potatoes some of the best ever. The reason I gave it one star Is the quality of the product. I think OXO needs to go back and upgrade the quality of this product. Until then I'm going to contact them and see if I can replace the ring or just buy a new potato ricer and it won't be this one.Date published: 2017-03-02Rated 4 out of 5 by Docjj1 from Good product that would be excellent if all-metal I read all the reviews from 2012 to present about this gadget. The challenge with removing the adjustable ring is that there are two notches and keys around the ring. They ARE NOT both the same size. One has to line up the smaller key and notch to put together and take apart. Once properly aligned, there is still a bit of resistance to separate. I think this is due to the plastic material used instead of metal. Over time, the plastic seems to have slightly warped from dishwasher cleaning (even top load area). Once assembled, it works very well. The other issue is that the handles are formed stainless instead of cast, and the gauge of the steel is somewhat light. This allows the handles to twist a little when mashing, but mine has never bent or deformed. If heavier gauge SS was used for the handles and use metal for the ring, this would be a superior product.Date published: 2017-02-05Rated 5 out of 5 by IC66 from love it for mashed potatoe's so good we sent one to our son, and they love it too and will be reviewing also soon. Tha stainless steel construction means high quality construction and will mean a long life. You do have to disassemble to clean but that is relatively easy. highly recommend!!Date published: 2017-01-29Rated 1 out of 5 by TopHat from Flimsy - and cracked after a few uses It worked decently a few times, but cracked after only several uses. Very disappointing.Date published: 2016-10-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Kaseyshopping from Fluffy Potatoes! I bought this ricer long ago, but finally had the chance to use it for Thanksgiving on Thursday. WOW! I was blown away at how fluffy the potatoes were and how simple the ricer was to use! The feed tube is very large so it only took 6-7 fills of the ricer for a 5+ pound bag of potatoes. I was afraid I would have to apply a lot of pressure to press the potatoes through the unit. Man was I wrong! A slight squeeze spit out fluffy, light potatoes! The whole ricing process took 3-5 minutes from start to finish with the ricer on the finest setting. The clean-up was a cinch. I twisted off the size adjuster and threw it all in the dishwasher. The only downfall for me is that the ricer is too big to fit in my kitchen drawers. I will be keeping it in my carousel for easy reaching. Can't wait to try it on cauliflower!Date published: 2015-11-30Rated 5 out of 5 by TeacherTony from Smooth and amazingly easy mashed potatoes I have used a hand masher for years when making potatoes, and everyone likes them but they have a lump here and there, so I decided to try this tool. On the fine setting, I spooned in potato chunks to fill the chamber, squeezed, and the potatoes dropped into the bowl below with almost no effort. It's the end of hand-mashing for me. What I do NOT understand are these reviews complaining about taking it apart to clean it. You DON'T take it apart, you put it on the top shelf of your dishwasher and wash it. Would you disassemble your garlic press to clean it? Those reviews are strange. Disregard them. It's a wonderful tool.Date published: 2015-10-12Rated 5 out of 5 by BHull from Great product for making Gnocchi I bought this so I could make gnocchi. I have never made gnocchi nor have I used a potato ricer before. Ricing the cooked potatoes was effortless. Taking the outer blade off was a breeze as was cleaning it. My gnocchi turned out to be very delicious and I will definitely be using it more often to make more gnocchi!Date published: 2015-03-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Bobbie1963 from Just LOVE it! I purchased this ricer to replace my old one ...... SO GLAD I DID! I read some of the reviews given but I don't agree. This is so easy to operate and clean.Date published: 2014-07-15
