- Since this product has a matte surface and is more textured compared to porcelain, it is prone to metal marks from flatware. Metal marks are grayish marks that are caused by flatware rubbing against the plates. You can remove the marks by using soap and the scrubbing side of a sponge or scouring pad. Bar Keepers Friend cleaning liquid works especially well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by dfurCA from Wash Twice?? I purchased the plates and bowls Feb of 2019. I regret not returning them. They do get marks on them. So if you put them in the dishwasher, you need to wash them again with the Barkeepers. Otherwise you need to wash them by hand and scrub with Barkeepers. Wonderful choice, wash them twice or wash by hand/scrub.Date published: 2019-06-17Rated 1 out of 5 by Katie from Beautiful but terrible I bought these at the store 2 days ago without looking at reviews first. They are gorgeous, but the material makes absolutely no sense for any normal use -- the "metal marks" are left from knifes and forks -- even without cutting anything you will get ridiculous marks (i.e. using a fork for a salad). The marks did not come out after scrubbing with soap and water or via dishwasher -- I refuse to use Bar Keeper's Friend as suggested by WS because it is not meant for porous materials as these plates are. These need to be taken off the market, WS!Date published: 2019-06-05Rated 2 out of 5 by Tiffany from scratch very easily I love the look of these plates. Unfortunately, after one use using a butter knife and fork, they plates scratched. They look terrible now. The price was decent, and I was initially excited to see if they would expand the line to more than just plates and bowls. I have the grey set and it now looks like someone drew all over the plates with pencil.Date published: 2019-01-23
Will the finish on these plates scratch under normal use (eating with forks/knives)?Hi Anna, Like any matte glazes, any frictions applied with a metallic object onto the plates will leave marks (not scratches but marks) onto the surface of the ceramic pieces to a certain extent. These marks will definitely vary and be more visible based on the pressure or intensity of the object applied against the ceramic and also on the color of the glaze itself.Date published: 2019-06-12
Are these oven safe? If so, up to what temperature?Hi Cassie, These plates are not oven-safe.Date published: 2019-03-11
