Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyKitchen from So cute and perfect bite size I just made piña colada seashell bites today and they are gorgeous. I made a maraschino cherry glaze and painted it on. The size is perfect for sampling and the shapes are appealing and detailed. My husband says these will "get destroyed" by his coworkers tomorrow, immediately. I bought three pans because I hate washing them while I'm baking. My loaf size recipe fills the three of them perfectly. Kind of a splurge to buy all three but I love them so I'll call it a good buy. I used Bak-Klene and they came out clean. There were just a few tiny crumbs in the pan which came out with warm soapy water and the bundt brush. I used a soft, juicy recipe so the cakes did not fall out. I just let them cool a few minutes in the pan and then used a finger to lift them out by an edge. They came out easily. Stop eyeing this one and just buy it. Seashells never go out of style and it's beach season.Date published: 2018-05-16Rated 5 out of 5 by BAMOR from This is my Hush Puppy pan. Serve with fish. I have the older style in silver. I add a little puddle of olive oil to each cavity, heat pan and oil in oven. Remove from oven and fill with hush puppy batter or corn bread. The oil spreads up the sides when batter is added. Return to oven. Bake. Serve with fish. They turn out of the pan easily and the shell detail is perfect. The kids may fight over who gets the sea horse. Pan shape is cute, but not easy to store in cupboard. It will not fit in my toaster oven. Easy to clean NEVER put in dish washer. Never use soap. Wasy with HOT water ONLY. Boiling water is okay. After initial cleaning, I pour boiling water over it from my Hamilton Beach hot water kettle.Date published: 2018-04-06

Would I be able to use angel food cake in this pan? Hi Jessmb221, We do not recommend using this pan to make angel food cake in. Angel food cakes are a bit unique in that they always come in the same size and shape. Recipes call for a specific pan and, while it’s possible to make smaller versions of angel food cakes in loaf pans or cupcake pans, a 9- or 10-inch tube pan with a removable bottom is standard. Angel food cakes are foam cakes and, although there is some flour in the batter to add softness and help hold the cake together, they get most of their body from beaten egg whites. Air pockets in the egg whites expand as the cake heats up in the oven, lifting the cake. The pan is designed to ensure that the cake bakes evenly and rises as high as possible. The tube design – with the hollow core at the center of the cake – lets heat evenly reach the entire cake, so that the outside edge is not done long before the cake’s center. This is especially important with an angel food cake because the cake is very delicate during baking and it needs all the help it can get to rise up. The other factors that helps the cake rise are the material and shape of the pan. The sides of the pan must be straight and should not be made of a nonstick material. This ensures that the cake can “grip” the pan and “pull” itself up. Since the delicate cake must be cooled upside down to prevent it from collapsing, a non-nonstick surface will also ensure that the cake remains firmly in the pan during this time.Date published: 2019-06-02
Where can I find recipes or at least average baking times for this pan? Would cookie dough work?I find average baking time at 350° is about 12 to 15 minutes. The pan is suitable for about 1/3 of a regular brownie box or cake/loaf recipe. I bought three of these to make it easy on myself. So any 5 to 6 cup recipe that works in any of my Nordic Ware loaf pans (which generally hold 6 cups) makes three of this pan pretty much perfectly. The wells are so small that you don't have to worry too much about rising. You can fill them almost to the top. Dense recipes like pound cake or brownies look especially good and really show the details.Date published: 2019-05-27
