Rated 5 out of 5 by KerryWb from Consistent finely 'chopped' herbs I am reviewing the previous version of this Microplane Herb Mill, the one shown in the video. I originally reviewed it around 2010, and gave it four or five stars. I still hold it in the same high opinion. For a while I stopped using it after being made fun of by my husband and son for using a tool for a job a simple knife could do. However, I recently had to mince about six cups of parsley for a large tabouli salad. When the knife, the Nicer Dicer, and the food processor failed, I pulled out the Microplane Herb Mill and was reminded how great this little tool is. I am once again using it all the time. It takes a few seconds to clean it up. I never put it into the dishwasher.Date published: 2016-07-04Rated 4 out of 5 by calmingwaters from handy herb mill I've been researching herb mills for several months & finally decided to purchase this one (now several months ago). It's easy to store, I like the large basket for herbs, it's easy and comfortable to use; which is great for someone with arthritic fingers and wrists. The only major complaint is that it is difficult to release the cutting blade from the mill itself in order to thoroughly clean everything properly. I wish the mfr. would revisit this part of the design and think about the consumer with different hand/wrist health problems.Date published: 2015-07-07Rated 1 out of 5 by fairecuire from like sharp knife better Rarely do I give an item one star but in this case I felt the product did not meet my expectations. I find a sharp knife (chef) works fast and is less of a clean up. I found, for me, the herbs getting clumped as well as not being able to chop as much as I would like and then having to put more herbs inside the mill. I found my knife easier and faster to clean. I use herbs daily and found this product just took up space in my cabinet. I am happy it works for others.Date published: 2015-01-03Rated 1 out of 5 by SanDiegofoodie from love it but it broke after 4 uses I absolutely loved the herb mill but after only 5 uses it broke. It makes chopping herbs quick & easy. So disappointed it broke! I want another one but am afraid it won't last either. After first using mine I purchased a couple for gifts - haven't heard if they lasted.Date published: 2014-09-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Insuranceguru from Love, love, love! Admittedly, it took a couple of tries to perfect the use of this indispensible tool. No, you don't need to dry your herbs. Just fill both chambers, insert the top and start the back-and-forth motion while very slowly pushing the 'plunger' downwards. I get beautiful, finely minced herbs everytime. I plan on purchasing several for gifts--this is such a great tool!Date published: 2014-07-25Rated 1 out of 5 by aprocter from Find something else My experience was that it did a terrible job of grinding and most of the torn up parsley, for example, gummed up the inner workings. It was impossible to clean. I used it once, cursing it as it made a mess; I took it out again and began to experience the same problem. Hope the trash man was happy; I wasn't.Date published: 2014-06-09Rated 2 out of 5 by turkeybeginner from works great but a pain I really liked this when I first got it. It does a great job of cutting the herbs. It was a bit slow going because you have to keep on opening up and refilling and sometimes it doesn't get the stuff at the very bottom. Re clean up is a huge pain. I ended up having to throw it out because I took it apart to clean it and I couldn't get the blade back in correctly.Date published: 2013-11-11Rated 1 out of 5 by EAR1 from Disappointing Tried it with fresh basil. Experienced all the difficulties as other people reviewed. The clean up is very time consuming. It is much more efficient to use a sharp knife. I should have returned it. Instead, I tossed it in the garbage. Total waste of money.Date published: 2013-07-16
