More than simply beautiful, copper is considered the best performing of culinary materials. Professional chefs use unlined copper bowls like this one to whip egg whites to frothy peaks. Copper is the ideal material for this task as it reacts naturally (and harmlessly) with the whites, making them more stable when beaten so they almost triple in volume.
- Handcrafted of solid unlined copper.
- Round-bottomed shape promotes vigorous, thorough mixing.
- Rolled rim is reinforced for extra strength.
- Riveted ring for use as thumb grip or for hanging.
- Optional chromed-iron stand (sold separately) creates a stable base for whipping ingredients from any angle.
- Made in France by Mauviel, founded in 1830.

- More about Mauviel
In 1830, Ernest Mauviel established his namesake cookware company in Villedieu-les-Poêles in Normandy. The village had a long history of outstanding metal work; the locals were considered experts in the craft. Today, much of the manufacturing is still done by hand using traditional processes passed down through generations of copper makers. True to France's rich culinary history, Mauviel 1830 is a favorite in professional kitchens, where copper's quick, even heat conductivity is essential for making delicates sauces and other French classics. Mauviel now also offers stainless-steel collections crafted with the same attention to detail as its traditional copper cookware.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Boston_home_cook from Great mixing bowl. I bought this to use for eggs and whipping cream. It also goes with all of my other copper cookware. This bowl is bigger than it sounds, and bigger than it looks in the images here. If it's cleaned right after use, it won't tarnish nearly as fast as the copper pots and pans will. Great product!Date published: 2018-12-19Rated 5 out of 5 by emmapeeldallas from Terrific bowl! I've had this bowl for over 40 years and it's terrific for whipping egg whites. it gives you a volume you won't get otherwise. Yes, it has to be cleaned, but so does everything else used for cooking. I highly recommend this bowl.Date published: 2016-08-28Rated 5 out of 5 by ChuckiesMom from Great Bowl! Beautifully weighted -- Purchased 2nd hand in poor and nasty condition Cleaned with salt and vinegar (vice lemon)-- in beautiful shape now! Great for whipped cream and egg whites--- absolutely gorgeous and functional!Date published: 2016-07-09Rated 1 out of 5 by SuzScriv from Bowl is High Maintenance I knew this copper bowl would patina with time, but little did I know to what extent. It's so difficult to remove the ugly spots -- even with lemon/salt and special copper cleaner. I don't want my food to come in contact with this bowl.Date published: 2016-03-30
