Rated 4 out of 5 by LowellMom from My second Looftlighter It is fabulous to have a grill tool that allows you not to use lighter fluid or, make a mess with a chimney. If you are a charcoal grill user this is a must have tool. My only "complaint" is that sparks fly a bit as you're getting the fire going. My first Looftlighter served us well for many years before kicking the bucket.Date published: 2015-04-23Rated 5 out of 5 by TopShelf from Fast fires and ready to grill! Purchased this item on sale a few weeks ago and put it to the test about six to eight times now. Works like a champ, have hot coals up and running in 10-15 minutes max vs the half hour plus in the past. No more waiting for the chimney to start, retired it to the garage for now and using my grill much more often for quick meals. As far as the sparks issue, yes it does generate them on fresh lump coal so use appropriate caution. The only negative is the long cord is a bit much to store but balanced out by being able to easily reach to my grill.Date published: 2014-08-07Rated 5 out of 5 by ScottEC from Excellent Firestarter I have only had the chance to use it a couple of times, but I am quite impressed with it's performance. It is even better than I expected. It only takes a couple of minutes to get a fire started using lump charcoal and within 10 minutes I am able to cook steaks or anything else I want.Date published: 2014-07-22Rated 5 out of 5 by dmwen from This Works! Purchased this to light the wood pellets in my smoker since the auto lighter no longer works and we were reduced to using a blowtorch. This is much easier and safer to use. Recommend!Date published: 2013-10-07Rated 4 out of 5 by CraigInTheCorn from Fast, but sparky I won't be be using this regularly, but if I need a fire NOW, I'll pull out this bad boy. BUT, the combo of natural charcoal, heat, and forced air created very hot sparks that didn't extinguish themselves quickly. Could certainly damage a shirt from hot sparks landing on your arm. So, be careful. The blower was nice in that you can blow bursts of air into the vents at the base of the grill (Big Green Egg in my case). That REALLY gets things moving.Date published: 2013-09-30Rated 5 out of 5 by louiser0707 from Wonderful product This has replaced the chimneys that use newspaper to start my charcoal. No more smoke and no more waiting. Highly recommended.Date published: 2013-06-12Rated 5 out of 5 by indybrian from Great product I bought a Big Green Egg and wanted something other than the starter cubes to lights the lump charcoal. The Looflighter works great. It heats the charcoal faster and more evenly. I would highly recommend this product.Date published: 2013-05-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Fkatz from Hot new tool Got it for an early dad's day gift. Works great with the BIg Green Egg.
