  • Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly constructed I have been using this tea press for a week and have been very disappointed. Firstly, the strainer keeps separating from the plunger when I pull it out, and I have to screw it back in. Secondly, the plunger top keeps falling off, and has to be screwed back in. Thirdly, the press does not retain heat leaving me with a warm tea. Fourthly, after the plunger is depressed, the tea is very difficult to remove from the bottom of the press. It has to be pried out with a spoon. I was looking forward to the Le Creuset press, but have been very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just delicious coffee I’ve only had this for a few weeks, but so far it’s been a wonderful little gem. No coffee grinds sneaking past the mesh screen, no over flows and no cracks or chips. I think it’s more effort than a drip coffee maker what with the disposal of the grinds and all but I am spoiled. Never going back.

  • When using the small french press (Le creuset), are you using whole beans or are you grinding the beans before you brew them? I'm grinding them first but it's not working. Should I be using whole beans? Please advise. Thanks.

    Asked by: oizarod
Hi oizarod, French press coffee calls for a coarse, even grind. We recommend starting with a 1:10 coffee-to-water ratio. Instructions: Measure the coffee beans. Grind the coffee beans on the coarsest setting in a burr grinder. Heat the water to boiling, then cool for 1 minute. Add the water to the French press. Stir the brew. Steep for 4 minutes. Plunge the press.
