- About Le Creuset
The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company’s classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.
Rated 5 out of 5 by LoveMyPotager from Perfection in Quince Ordered 6 3/4 quart in Quince as I've wanted this piece of cookware for a very long time. Then regretted it, thinking it would be too big. No way! It is a perfect size for weekend cooking when my family comes home for mama cooking.Date published: 2013-07-20Rated 5 out of 5 by ThrilledinFairOaks from Inspiration in a Dutch Oven My office gave me this glorious oversized Dutch Oven as a retirement gift. What an indulgence! I love everything about it -- the hand-made quality, the tradition, the heft, the beautiful Oceana blue color! Can't stop making new recipes, and it looks so great on my cooktop, I refuse to put it away!Date published: 2013-03-06Rated 5 out of 5 by DanielleG from Welcome addition to my [cookware] family This dutch oven is great! Love the extra width, it allows me to sear more meat/veggies/etc at one time (the bottom of my pan is not overcrowded). Holds heat very evenly and very well. Easy to clean up. Is stunning to behold! LOVE!Date published: 2013-03-06Rated 5 out of 5 by ewood from I Love This Dutch Oven This dutch oven is a great size. Lots of surface space for browning and it works great on my induction cooktop. I have other LeCreuset pots but when I saw this one, I just had to have it and I'm so happy with it. Plus, it clean up so easily.Date published: 2013-01-29Rated 5 out of 5 by TuanCanCook from I love all my Le Creuset pans The aubergine color was on sale at my local WS so I had to get it. I think they are discontinuing the color so if you've been thinking of buying one, run out to your local store now and see what they have. I saw many different sized aubergine LC's on sale. I've been eyeing this pan for awhile because I like the lower sides which aid in evaporation and the large cooking surface. I'm thinking fried chicken or risottos plus the many other ideas I'll come up with. I have several LC pieces and love them all. I recently bought a Staub dutch oven but I think I prefer the LC light color interior. Yes it could potentially stain, but think of the great meals that made the stains.Date published: 2013-01-23Rated 5 out of 5 by allthingskitchen from New Favorite Pot I love all my Le Creuset pots. When I saw this pot, I had to have it. I think it makes a good "everyday" pot. I'll probably leave it out on my cooktop. I think you're only limited by your imagination as how to use it. I bought it yesterday. This morning I made French toast in it for breakfast and sauteed lots of vegetables in it for a pasta dish for lunch. It's big enough to make a reasonable amount of soup (for two people with leftovers...I tend to fill the pot when I use my large French oven for soup). It would be great for spaghetti sauce, chili, pot roast, braising, pan sauteing, etc. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the large cooking surface. Plus, I love that the sides are short enough to use it for pan sauteing, but tall enough to keep most of the grease splatters off the cooktop (which is one of the main reasons I bought it). I know I'm going to love this pot more and more as I find new uses for it.Date published: 2013-01-20Rated 5 out of 5 by Kerryman from Great Product The product works exactly as others have described. My only issues would be not with the oven, but with Williams-Sonoma's description of its size. It is way wider than described, but thankfully I knew that before I purchased it. It is of comparable width to other pans of this volume, so was not a problem for me.Date published: 2012-12-19Rated 5 out of 5 by EnjoyCooking1234 from 1st Piece- Love it Very versatile- can be used like a dutch oven/stock pot/deep skillet. Heats evenly and fast. Lots of fun to try new things in. Le Creuset website has some good recipes for those just starting out with cast iron cooking. Ocean color is so pretty that I leave it out on my stove all the time. Heavy, but not so heavy that I have a hard time with it, even full of food (I'm 5' and petite).Date published: 2012-12-09
