- More about Le Creuset
The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company’s classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.
Rated 3 out of 5 by OCGuy from Doesn't heat evenly, due to pan shape vs. burner I've owned this pan for several years. Like any cast iron piece, I turn the heat (gas burner) on medium-low and then slowly ramp it up to medium or medium-high as needed. Pan comes perfectly clean when soaked in hot sudsy water. I apply a bit of olive oil (spray, or paper towel) before use--or early in the heating stage-- and never have sticking problems. That said, the rectangular design is an issue: when used on a round gas or electric burner, the center 40% of the pan heats up nicely, but not the ends of the pan. Perhaps it behaves differently on an induction cook top, but my cook top is gas.You can cook maybe two pieces of meat in the center, but you can't use the full surface of the pan--even though at first glance it appears to suffice for 3-4 persons--because the ends don't reach the same cooking temperatures. If cooking meat in the center, you can cook veggies on the ends, assuming they need less heat, but you can't fill this pan end to end with meat and expect all pieces to cook evenly. The larger (and twice as costly) double burner grill probably addresses the heating issue to some degree, but at that size and price point you may as well get a large grill pan from LeCreuset, W-S house brand, or Staub. Skinny Grill does have one advantage: thin profile, so easier to store than a full-depth pan. The standard size Skinny Grill (single burner model) is satisfactory when cooking for one or two, but not for a family (it could suffice IF the ends heated up evenly, but they don't). Recommend with reservations: ok for singles or couples only.Date published: 2017-10-18Rated 2 out of 5 by Professor54 from Total Disappointment! This is the first piece of LeCreuset that hasn’t come close to my expectations (and I have many pieces). Everything sticks and I’ve used oil, butter, lard, sprays, etc. Cleaning is impossible. Soaking doesn’t work and neither does a popular no-scratch cleanser. The outside finish stains in a matter of minutes (mine is matte). If you need to “season” this, then that should have been explained in the Use & Care directions. Seriously disappointed and will be looking for a replacement by another manufacturer—sadly too late to return.Date published: 2017-10-14Rated 5 out of 5 by Michigan40 from size and quality of finished product I recieved my pan last week and have grilled burgers and vegetables without difficulty. I wiped down the pan with a paper twel dipped in oil after the water test proved it to be sufficently hot. Lightly oiled the burgers and vegtable Leave food on grill until it has a good sear and you will not have sticking issues. I personally like the smaller size. If you have arthritis the size and weight are manageable.Date published: 2017-08-12Rated 2 out of 5 by JP13 from Too small Was so excited for this to arrive and gift to my husband for Fathers day. However, it's so small that it doesn't reach/cover both burners! No idea how it would heat effectively throughout. Much smaller than anticipated. Bummer. This is going back!Date published: 2017-06-04Rated 5 out of 5 by WenWen from Absolutely Love! I love this Skinny Grill. I keep it on my gas cooktop so it's always ready to use. LOVE!Date published: 2017-05-29Rated 5 out of 5 by Bootsalino from Perfect Size / Amazing Results !!!!! I bought this a few weeks ago in Lapis Blue. I Love it. Perfect grilled vegetables, chicken, Fish........Great Fajita sizzling platter.Date published: 2017-05-15Rated 1 out of 5 by Laura from Not what I expected. I, like many others, was very excited for this grill. Unfortunately, I had to return it once already because the first grill didn't lie flat. Make sure to check for defects before purchasing!!! I was told by the manager that it's rare to find a Le Creuset item that is perfect. Then after grilling my asparagus and chicken, the smoke in the apartment was so bad the neighbor thought there was a fire. That's with the ventilation set high, as well as the windows and door open. Afterwards, the clean up was terrible. It still looks terrible and that's after cleaning and soaking three times. The only silver lining was that it did in fact taste like grilled chicken. Sadly for the price and the trouble, I would not recommend this to anyone. It was my very first Le Creuset item, and I'm not keen on getting any more.Date published: 2017-04-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Maggie8888 from Make food tasted better We've used it for several weeks now, it just makes food tasted better, so far, we used it to cook fish, burger, vegetable; haven't tried to cook shrimps or scallops; I normally cook them in air-fryer.Date published: 2017-03-12
