Rated 5 out of 5 by Floridacook from Saved money I've had my Kitchenaid and grinder attachment for 30 years. True, the back of the base cracked. I put a hose clamp on it, and better then new. Rinse of any meat, soak in hot water, then clean with bottle brush. I buy roast on sale $2.99 lb, grind for burger. As good as $6 ground sirloin. We process deer and wild hogs yearly. My meat pusher is wood, so it cleans up easy also. I keep blades and plates brushed with vegetable oil from time to time, and they too are over 30 years old. Blade is sharp and no rust.Date published: 2019-09-07Rated 2 out of 5 by Trnichols from Weak plastic. Although I've had the grinder attachment for some time I don't use it that often.I used to grind some beef and noticed that the end of the auger that attaches to the mixer the plastic around it is cracked in 6 different places. It still worked but what happens with extended use.If you have one check it out.Date published: 2018-12-10Rated 2 out of 5 by Trish from Kitchen Aide Meat Grinder Attachment My mom and I purchased this about a month ago. We were super excited to make sausage, etc. The “pusher” that is necessary to get your meat into grinder is IMPOSSIBLE. We had meat on our cupboards, walls, EVERYWHERE. It sticks, you get some meat down in there and it comes right back out. Very poor design and do not recommend wasting your precious time. We are both very experienced cooks and were just completely disappointed in this product. Very rare for Sonoma Williams to continue selling this when it could be redesigned for a much better product. Way too much work involved and clean up is a nightmare.Date published: 2018-05-10Rated 3 out of 5 by Lindylu from KitchenAid Grinder I received the grinder for my birthday and was excited to try my hand at sausage. The grinder is great. The plastic pusher needs help! The meat escapes around the base and gets stuck in the ridges above. I was very frustrated with the whole process! Where can I get a different pusher?Date published: 2018-04-17Rated 4 out of 5 by CulinaryCailliers from Basic grinder We wanted a basic grinder that we could use from time to time and this has done just that. We do not grind enough meat to satisfy the purchase of a well built metal grinder, but were surprised at how well this one does.Date published: 2017-06-14Rated 5 out of 5 by Farrellito from Essential Attachment Nothing better than homemade hamburger and sausage. Easy to use -- just make sure the grinder is frozen and the meat is nearly frozen. Easy clean up -- drop into hot soapy water right after use. Very pleased.Date published: 2017-02-27Rated 5 out of 5 by LauraB48 from Grinder Rules - Vital But Simple When you use this grinder you must think ahead - if for meat (which is really my only use) be sure to have that product chilled to a just under frozen state. Be sure you clean everything immediately after use - this is just Kitchen 101, people, but raw meat and gears must be dealt with! With fatter recipes it can help to soak the pieces in the usual fat-fighting dish soap. Just do not procrastinate. Keep all the pieces together - there are a few. I clean all, dry all, then bag them together for storage. You might forget what that sharp little cross was for if its in your misc. drawer. Yes, if you run it too hard/hot or the meat isn't cold you may find some of the lubricant in your food product. Take it out and move on, knowing you neglected the grinder rules.Date published: 2017-02-03Rated 3 out of 5 by Mike93 from Weird packaging I ordered this on black friday and when it came the box was rattling. None of the parts were wrapped in plastic and no styrofoam was in the box. I was a little confused, but all the parts are there and it seems to be working correctly. The parts were hard to fit back in the box, so I doubt that I will be storing it in the original container for very long.Date published: 2016-11-30
