KitchenAid® Stainless-Steel Stir Tower
Rated 3 out of 5 by michgirl from Overpriced slow-cooker I bought this product in red over a year ago. It is a very nice looking appliance! However, I mainly use it for cooking rice. I've used as a slow cooker once, and food came out overly dry. I don't like how you have to hit the start button again after the product is preheated; I have forgotten to do this on several occasions.Date published: 2017-02-05Rated 5 out of 5 by ANCGirl from GET THE STIR TOWER First off, don't buy this without the stir tower. I did, and 2 days after the multi-cooker arrived I ordered the stir tower. Without it, the pot is just a fancy and expensive slow cooker. With it, it is a cooking machine. I now have the time to cook magical weekday meals because I can do other things while the stir tower is in action- risottos, chilies, stews. Searing becomes a splatter free experience and steel-cut oats don't boil over onto the stove top. Clean-up a breeze. Have used this product nearly everyday since I purchased. Expensive but so worth it! (It really should come with the stir tower...)Date published: 2016-09-28Rated 3 out of 5 by Designcapecod from New user, not impressed Overpriced crock pot. Silly programming. First you press ON button. Then press ON at desired heat setting... OH wait, then press ON again, and don't dare walk away because it still won't cook, you have to stand around until it preheats, and then PRESS go, again. Thought you'd wander off thinking your multicooker is cooking? Forget that, it's waiting for you to push a button the fourth or fifth time. Shouldn't we be able to program it to a temp, and leave? Cooker bowl is slightly domed In the middle not flat, making SEAR function a bit odd...if you pour oil in, it runs to the perimeter of the 'crock.' And the Stir Tower does not sit neatly against the cooker...photos usually show the Stir Tower hidden behind the cooker, because it really does not align in a snug way. Stirrer is fairly old technology now housed in the classic Kitchen Aid retro stand-mixer styling. Couldn't they design this so the lid isn't separated from the cooker by an inch of black crockpot liner?Date published: 2016-09-11Rated 5 out of 5 by joeniner67 from Great multi-cooker Bought this KitchenAid for my wife for Mother's Day. She loves it! Especially the ability to use the pot on the stove top.Date published: 2016-06-01Rated 4 out of 5 by TommyJames from Some minor flaws in the product First of all, the best feature is the optional stir tower. It allows you to throw stuff in and wait without having to check to see how things are shaping up. The weakness in the product is that the nonstick coating on the cooking surface easily chips and flakes off. The other downside is that the cleaning surfaces on the tower have a seam that is hard to clean. My only other gripe is that it's easy to think you're cooking when all you've done is select the mode you want to use, so it's important to verify that you're in fact cooking in the mode you selected. Still, what makes this an excellent choice is the stir tower. Without it, I think there are other options that may be better.Date published: 2016-03-06Rated 5 out of 5 by InTheKitchenOnWeekends from Can you say WOW? First of all, delivered in two days. Second of all it is better than the pictures on the web site show. Third, it cooks like a dream. For someone who is not the best at cooking, it makes the meals that come out tender and tasty. This multi cooker will turn you into a chef. Great time saver.Date published: 2016-03-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Ryanide from Multi-Cooker + Stir-Tower = Perfect Risotto!! OMG! This thing is a miracle worker when it comes to making risotto. The stir tower does all the work and makes creamy risotto even without using any dairy! Once you figure out the sequence of button presses for the different modes, you find that this Multi-cooker is really a kitchen wonder. I have noticed a few chips on the non-stick pot as others have noted (and I also use only silicon utensils). Great Buy! I love it.Date published: 2016-01-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Mellykay from Quite an upgrade from the old crock pots This slow cooker has so many bells and whistles. The really cool thing was just how quickly the temperature went right up to sauté. Everything can be done in one pan. We also purchased the stirrer and decided it is definitely a benefit to soups and stews and chilies. It was simple cleanup. Hope nothing goes wrong with the plastic gears in the stirrer attachment. I love this slow cooker and can't wait to try it again this holiday season.Date published: 2015-11-21
