  • Rated 4 out of 5 by from The only KA to buy for bread. I make one batch of white bread (two loaves) twice a week. When KA first came out with the Professional 600, about 15 years ago, I bought one. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the ones with the plastic motor housing, so it failed. In 2011, I bought another one, with the new type housing, and it too decided to blow its motor after a relatively short period of time (but not under warrantee). I did not want to buy another KA at that point. However, after doing some research, and looking at a variety of other options, this 7 Qt version stood out as being better built, and certainly with better warrantee coverage (5 years, not 1). So I took a chance. It does extremely well with bread dough. I don't push it (6 cups bread flour is what it is happiest with at one time), but I do make bread twice a week, every week, so it gets a workout. The motor does not get hot like the other model, and it is MUCH quieter than the other (Professional 600) also. I did have a gear failure (made a loud clunk when I turned it on one day at about 2 years old), and I called KA for a repair. They immediately sent me a brand new machine, and I sent back the one with the problem, no charge. As an added bonus the new one came with a completely new 5 year warrantee. That level of customer service is what I hoped the first two KA machines I bought in past would have had, but didn't. This one does, and it's the only one I recommend to people who do a fair bit of bread baking now. It does have one idiosyncracy...it will make kind of a clacking noise under heavy dough kneading. The second one I have is quieter with this than my first was, but it's just one of those things this machine does. It does not do it with lighter mixing tasks, just bread dough, but it doesn't seem to mean anything. In any case, if it does, I still have that long warrantee.... :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Homemade baking done with Professional ease After using my old kichenaid the previous holiday season, I realized it was time for an upgrade. Hours and hours of reading and watching video reviews brought me here. I bought this right before thanksgiving and used it for all of my holiday baking. I love the size of the mixer bowl! I can easily knead homemade bread to the point where my fancy breadmaker is ignored, bake double batches of cookie dough, make crusts, etc. If you need a mixer for something, this can handle it. Clean up is pretty easy. Hand wash immediately with warm soapy water and it wipes out easily. I made multiple batches of different goodies and turn around for the clean up was just a few minutes. Like most professional level kitchen toys, the only real downside to this beautiful machine is its size and weight. If you like professional level equipment, this is worth the kitchen space. I have a spot for it on the counter and don't move it around much. One thing that takes some getting used to is how to put the bowl in and lock it in place. It took me a few tries to get it right. Once it is locked in place, this baby doesn't move. People complain about the noise but it didn't bother me. It is about what I would expect of a machine like this. When it is baking time, we take out my 3 year old daughters mini artisan mixer and put it next to mine so she can bake with me. She can make the frosting while this beautiful beast handles the cake or cookie dough. It is wonderful to have such a lovely machine to teach her to bake with just like my mom did with me. Bottom Line: If you want a professional level machine this is worth the money. But still wait for the holiday sales :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love it but need help I absolutely love it and all the attachments. I can’t get thru to customer service for help. The little silver flap that opens to allow you to add attachments keeps falling off since the first day I bought it. I need help to fix it or replace that small part before the one I have gets lost. Please contact me since I cannot get thru to talk to a live person that can help me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Stand Mixer! The stand mixer is the work horse of my kitchen. I use to make my own dough which was back breaking until I purchased this mixer. I also purchased every attachment they make which all work absolutely wonderfully. I make everything homemade from pizza, bread, sausage and all different types of pasta etc. Nothing beats homemade!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME~ Would purchase again ~ I love this Mixer. I have the Red one and the the easy clean finish. I purchased it when it first came out, and there was a issue with the speed control skipping. The company sent me a new one and the issue was fixed in new models. I make breads, doggy biscuits and items that needed a mixer that could take on large batches of product. I also do pastillage and use the pasta attachment all the time! Awesome, looking forward to getting spiral attachment and grain attachment!! Cannot go wrong with this machine!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love her!!! I've had this mixer for over a year and I love her! Bread and pizza dough are a snap, cakes, cookies, fresh whipped cream, custards, and yes people, mashed potatoes! In addition, I bought the meat grinder so I could make my own ground beef as well as caseless ground chicken breast sausage with seasonings and red and Fresno peppers...sooooo good! I haven't had a single problem with her; she just shines no matter the task or ask. I wish I hadn't waited so long to get this; I chugged along as best I could for years with a Viking hand mixer. Great little mixer mind you, but obviously limited in what it can help you make. This mixer has expanded my culinary adventures...I make the best pizza dough I've ever eaten since buying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A worthy upgrade So I have had a Kitchenaid 5qt bowl lift since 1988 that has gotten a serious workout since purchase (bread or cookie dough at least twice a week since purchase) with that usage at holiday time ramping up to near constant use for bread and cookie doughs 2-3 batches per day for nearly 6 weeks for holiday baking! Nothing beats fresh baked treats as holiday gifts! Anyhow my original 5qt is still going strong, but its rather limiting during holidays (cannot really double or triple batch most cookie recipes without overfilling work bowl) So while wandering the local Williams-Sonoma I saw the 7qt in Candy Apple red just sitting there and bought it.. So happy I did! Quality and durability seem to be on par with my older Kitchenaid, its also very quiet and has had no trouble at all with even the stiffest dough in giant batches!. in addition the bowl is wider and it comes with a pouring shield which makes it so much easier to add ingredients with mixer turned on.. I also purchased the bowl edge scraper with the unit (something ALL kitchenaid owners should have.. brilliant and cuts down signficantly on scraping down the bowl! About the only thing I can say negatively about this mixer is that it struggles with for example a single egg white or a very small amount of cream when whipping.. but then again if its that small a recipe I just use a whisk or a stick blender! In closing this comes highly recommended for any person who bakes alot! FYI I still break out the old 5qt when cookie time rolls around and its still going just as strong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Mixer! This mixer will handle anything you throw at it. It's a beautiful piece of equipment and works like a champ. I use it several times a week, but that wasn't an option to check in that category.
