I purchased this coffee grinder in October 2017, and have been very pleased with it. However, today (16 October 2018) the grind jar was dropped and broken. It should be listed under replacement parts, but it's not.Date published: 2018-10-16Rated 5 out of 5 by Marishka from Perfect I bought this for its simplicity and good looks, it does a great job too. Once I got over the sticker shock, I justified the expense knowing it would make my coffee-making process easier and brew tastier. It's not the quietest appliance out there, and the static cling of the coffee grounds isn't completely eliminated. But it's a reliable product made from the quality materials we've known and come to expect from KitchenAid. And it looks gorgeous on my countertop too! We bought this model after seeing how our friend's older version of this grinder work beautifully for grinding coffee. However, when we first used it for the first time, we were shocked at how much noise it makes. Almost need ear plugs while running it. With the burr grinder removed the motor still makes that racket so it's the motor making the whining noise, not the grinder . The other problem we've had with it is the burr grinders getting jammed and stopping. Twice in the past two months, we've had to disassemble the grinder and romove all the ground coffee from around the burrs.Date published: 2018-07-29Rated 2 out of 5 by thudhead from Exploding Plastic Gears I have been happy with this grinder for many years. I bought it because it was all metal after having too many plastic appliances bite the dust. This morning it was grinding away and suddenly stopped. Pulling the motor from the back of the housing and removing the planetary gears from the motor revealed that the drive shaft is plastic, and had sheared off from the reducing gears. Boo for plastic gear sets!Date published: 2018-07-08
