Enjoy hearty Tuscan lentil soup with this starter developed by our Test Kitchen chefs for the Instant Pot. The earthy flavor of lentils is enhanced by savory kale, bell pepper, onion and carrot. Simply mix with tomatoes and chicken stock, then pressure cook for 18 minutes.

- Lentils, carrots, onion, salt, tomato powder, bell pepper, kale, garlic, contains 2% or less of spices, celery, mushrooms, red wine vinegar powder (maltodextrin, red wine vinegar).
- This product is prepared and packaged using machines that may come in contact with wheat/gluten, tree nuts, sesame, eggs, milk, soy, mustard.

For an additional charge of $26 per address, we can expedite delivery to most destinations. Orders received by 9:00 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Thursday will arrive the next business day; orders placed Friday through Sunday will arrive on the following Tuesday.

- Instructions for Instant Pot Tuscan Lentil Soup Starter
1 jar soup starter
1 can (14 1/2 oz./455 g) diced tomatoes
4 cups (1 l) water or low-sodium chicken broth
Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Combine the starter, tomatoes and 3 cups (750 ml) of the water in an Instant Pot®. Lock the lid in place, seal and set to cook at high pressure for 18 minutes. When pressure cooking is complete, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining steam. Carefully remove the lid, then stir in the remaining 1 cup (250 ml) water. Ladle into bowls and sprinkle with Parmesan.

I will say that the directions were very easy to follow...I, however, didn't follow them exactly. The recipe calls for low sodium broth. I didn't get that kind and I will not make that mistake again! The dish came out to be quite salty for my taste. I don't cook with much salt in the first place, so this was a bit much for me. I had to add a cup of water to the recipe to take the salt level down. I added a pouch of cooked chicken to the recipe and it came out marvelously. I don't usually use starter's but thought I would put it away for winter. Today (not winter yet), I was cleaning the pantry and tried it. What a wonderful surprise.
