Rated 5 out of 5 by Kerronlt68 from Love!!! I received mine as a Christmas present. Have used it a lot since then and I love it. So easy to use and everything turns out great.Date published: 2019-03-08Rated 5 out of 5 by cadpmb from It is easy to use and saves me so much time! They didn't miss a thing when they invented this pot! It was even easy to take out of the box! I took the time and read through all the information provided a couple of times to make sure I was operating this new-to-me device properly. I've cooked all sorts of meals with it! I caught on to it pretty quick, with loads practice, having fun cooking everything from pork roast, beef roast, ribs, ground beef, 1/4 hamburger patties, spaghetti & meatballs, chicken, eggs, all kinds of vegetables, stews, chili, etc... The options for what you can cook is endless. It makes my weekday meal planning so much easier - and so much faster! Food tastes delicious, full of flavor and never dry. This thing has literally changed my life! THANK YOU INSTANT POT MAX! :)Date published: 2019-01-09Rated 4 out of 5 by Bacindy from My new go-to appliance! I’ve been using the IPmax for about 4 weeks. I’ve made everything from soups to boiled eggs to vegetables to casseroles. I really love this machine, however, there is a bit of learning curve. if you will take the time to watch some videos on YouTube, you’ll discover an indispensable tool for your kitchen. I use it almost everyday now. Main tip: don’t use the Max temperature setting unless the recipe calls for it. Most recipes out there use high, so use high.Date published: 2019-01-03Rated 5 out of 5 by JoJo777 from Easiest Pulled Pork Evah!!! Easiest and Fastest pulled pork EVAH as we say in New England, I used the App for the recipe All-American Pull Pork. I have always only ever made pulled pork in a crock pot, but never again. I cut the pork shoulder into about 4 pieces which made it easier to shred in the end. I did the rub but did not put in the fridge and it tasted perfect after browning, I pressure cooked for 60 minutes, then sauteed the sauce dropped the meat back in and it was so perfect!!!Date published: 2019-01-02Rated 5 out of 5 by MJEW from the touch screen so easy and fast Got this just before Christmas and made a Butter Chicken and at the same time i put a bowl with rice and water and everything was done within 25 mins it was awesome.Date published: 2019-01-01Rated 5 out of 5 by jaraef from Very easy for a beginner - surprising potential I received an Instant Pot Max a week ago so I have had a chance to try it for a few dishes. I first read up on the settings and process since I have never used a pressure cooker or slow cooker. This Instant Pot has a altitude setting which I set for my location in Colorado at 5,900ft. I believe this setting adjusts cooking as needed for high altitude. The first dish I tried was a simple turkey noodle soup (I had no chicken). The recipe called for sautéing the vegetables first, then using the soup function and finally sautéing the egg noodles for a few more minutes. It turned out good but did not save much time over just cooking on the stove. Next time I might try rotini or penne and just cooking all ingredients at once together. Next I tried jasmin rice which turned out well but a bit dry so I will adjust water a bit in the future to perfect. Next was lentils which cooked from start to finish in about 20 minutes (6-7 minutes of pressure cooking), this dish usually takes me about an hour on the stove so it was a welcome time saver. Finally I cooked a recipe from the Instant Pot website for baby back ribs. The ribs turned out tender and delicious with my daughter, who loves ribs, stating they were the best ribs she ever had. Overall the Instant Pot is very easy to use once you have done a couple of dishes and I was pleasantly surprised how good it is at a variety of dishes beyond stews and soups that I thought it might be limited too. It also cleans up easy which is important.Date published: 2019-01-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Kathy James from Love our Christmas gift! For our first meal, we did ribs the other night and they were to die for fall off the bone tender. I followed a dry rub recipe than once complete just coated with sweet baby rays sauce and broiled on low for about 5 to 10 minutes while that was going did a quick wash of the pot and made the white rice. My son loved them and the time to prepare this meal compared to how I used to boil and bake the ribs was a lot quicker and less mess, plus super tender in the instant pot. Will never do ribs any other way again. I tried the one pot beef roast with carrots and potatoes the recipe on page 24 of the booklet and the roast was just a little over done it said 45 to 50 min I went with 45 minutes I would reduce to 35 to 40 next time but still tender and carrots and potatoes very good. Like any new appliance (like an oven), you often need to make minor adjustments to cooking times and because the Max is 15psi compared to the others at 12psi, I would recommend reducing the cooking time slightly. We both love the Max and can't wait to try more recipes.Date published: 2018-12-31Rated 5 out of 5 by Jmlu from Amazing Product Changes Weeknight Dinners! I have had the Instant Pot for a couple of weeks and absolutely love it! I started with meals my family loves but I do not have the time to make. I have gotten stuck making the same things every week. The Instant Pot BBQ Ribs were ready in 1 hr. 10 min. they truly were falling off the bone I couldn't believe how tender and juicy they were. The flavor was amazing. The Chicken Chili, only took 35 minutes and tasted like I had cooked it on low all day! I also tried the Instant Pot 20 minute Chicken Burrito Bowl, this is something we eat a lot and takes a lot longer than 20 min. to make not to mention the dishes. This recipe everything goes in the Instant Pot at once and was INCREDIBLE. The flavor and the tenderness of the chicken, the rice was perfect and not mushy just a lot of flavor and everyone loved it! The quick pressure release saves time and the clean up is so easy! My family is very excited no more dry chicken and I am happy to have so many more options to choose from. Next I am going to try the cheesecake! I am looking forward to trying all of the options!Date published: 2018-12-31
What is the difference in the max than the ultra ? And which one is the newest addition ? Hi Tammy, The Max has the highest level of PSI of any Instant Pot at 15 psi, which makes it hotter and faster for cooking. The Max also has additional functions for Sous Vide and Canning. The Ultra is not sold at WS but includes functions not on the Max including Bean/Chili, Meat/Stew, Multigrain, Porridge, Soup/Broth, Cake, Steam, Egg, and Ultra. Both have automated steam release functions. The Max is the newest model from Instant Pot.Date published: 2019-02-26
Is this 6qt big enough to feed a family of 4 which includes my mom, myself, my 16 yr old 6'4 brother who is an athlete and my husband who is also over 6ft and athlete? The boys alone, eat 2 servings or more at dinner.Hi jpott29, The most important consideration in determining which size you need is that with pressure cooking, you can only add food to 2/3 full. So the pressure cooking capacity is actually a good deal smaller than the actual size of the pot. The second most important consideration in determining size is cook time. With pressure cooking, all models will cook the food in the same amount of time, but the larger the model, the longer it will take to reach pressure and also to release pressure, though it’s not a terribly long time. A 6 quart should be sufficient but if, on occasion, you'd like to batch cook for freezing or serve a large group of people, we would recommend the 8 quart.Date published: 2019-02-26
Does the Max seal automatically when the lid is locked, like the Ultra does?Hi leftydana, The Instant Pot Max automatically seals when it comes to pressure, same as all the Instant Pot models in the market.Date published: 2019-03-17
