- Instructions for Instant Pot Lemon and Saffron Risotto Starter
1 jar risotto starter
4 cups (1 l) water or low-sodium chicken broth
4 Tbs. (60 g) unsalted butter, cut into 4 pieces
1/2 to 1 cup (60 to 125 g) grated Parmesan cheese
Lemon wedges for serving
Combine the starter and water in an Instant Pot®. Lock the lid in place, seal and set to cook at high pressure for 6 minutes. When pressure cooking is complete, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining steam.
Carefully remove the lid, then remove the inner pot from the cooker to prevent the risotto from overcooking. Stir in the butter and Parmesan as desired. Season with salt and serve with lemon wedges alongside.
Serves 4 to 6.
- Prep: 1 minute
- Up to Pressure: 12 minutes
- Under Pressure: 6 minutes
- Release Pressure: 12 minutes
- Total: 31 minutes

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scottie1978 from Very Good I actually really liked this starter. I am not sure why other users are saying there is a plastic taste, but I didn’t taste it and neither did anyone else who ate it. I threw some rotisserie chicken that I had left over with the other ingredients when I made the Risotto, so maybe that changed the taste. I made it according to the directions, only adding in the chicken. I love it and will reorder.Date published: 2019-02-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Tpettit from Horrible!! This product was gross. It smelled like plastic and tasted like plastic. For this upscale store to sell something like this at the price of $12.00 a bottle is ridiculous. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.Date published: 2019-02-01Rated 1 out of 5 by tami4604 from GROSS This was disgusting and I agree with all of the reviews that say it tastes like plastic. I received this as a gift and was excited to try it but it is horrible. Stay away!Date published: 2019-01-24Rated 1 out of 5 by TiffRenteria from Horrible taste I bout this in the store thinking it was going to be go but the saffron taste was so strong, it tasted like plastic. I thought I had melted something or forgot something but that was the way it came out. I wouldn’t buy this again.Date published: 2019-01-19Rated 1 out of 5 by JoyAuburn from Fake taste, throwing it out What a disappointment! The texture turned out great but the flavor tastes off. I’m not sure if it’s the saffron or lemon flavoring but it ruined the dish. What a waste of resources.Date published: 2019-01-13Rated 1 out of 5 by JRCB from Tastes like plastic. It tastes like plastic. We thought maybe I dropped a silicone packet or something inside while I was cooking it. Terrible. Would not buy again.Date published: 2019-01-11Rated 1 out of 5 by AliW from Had a chemical taste This product was terrible and in-fact I was planning to dropping by the store for a refund. I have very broad taste and it was gross and had a chemical taste. My husband who literally eats anything was also unable to eat it.Date published: 2019-01-03Rated 4 out of 5 by Betty J from Convenient This risotto was quite tasty and cooked up perfectly in the instant pot. Adding the cheese and butter after cooking thickened the product. My only concern is that this starter jar is quite expensive. It is very convenient but convenience comes at a steep price.Date published: 2018-12-13
