- Instructions for Instant Pot Lemon and Saffron Risotto Starter
1 jar risotto starter
4 cups (1 l) water or low-sodium chicken broth
4 Tbs. (60 g) unsalted butter, cut into 4 pieces
1/2 to 1 cup (60 to 125 g) grated Parmesan cheese
Lemon wedges for serving
Combine the starter and water in an Instant Pot®. Lock the lid in place, seal and set to cook at high pressure for 6 minutes. When pressure cooking is complete, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining steam.
Carefully remove the lid, then remove the inner pot from the cooker to prevent the risotto from overcooking. Stir in the butter and Parmesan as desired. Season with salt and serve with lemon wedges alongside.
Serves 4 to 6.
- Prep: 1 minute
- Up to Pressure: 12 minutes
- Under Pressure: 6 minutes
- Release Pressure: 12 minutes
- Total: 31 minutes

Rated 1 out of 5 by gopagopa1 from Waste of Money Unfortunately this is one of the worst products I've ever bought from Williams Sonoma. The consistency of the risotto was good but the taste was awful! It tasted like plastic and I was worried I would get sick after eating it! They really need to remove it from the shelves.Date published: 2019-03-21Rated 5 out of 5 by Momof3 from Excellent I browned 6 chicken cutlets in grape seed oil and seasoned chicken with sea salt and pepper. Then put risotto on top, covered in 4c chicken broth, and added a bundle of asparagus tips. Followed the label instructions for cooking time and adding butter and 1cup parm/Romano cheeses. Delicious.Date published: 2019-03-19Rated 1 out of 5 by camelgirl from do not buy this......... I was hoping all the reviews were wrong and guess what everyone is right. this is totally garbage and truly tasted like melted plastic and chemical. I had to throw it all away. I find it unbelievable that WS continues to sell this awful product.Date published: 2019-03-18Rated 1 out of 5 by s_cohen from Inedible! This was terrible! I should have known when I opened the jar, but I thought it might smell/taste better after cooking. Nope. I threw it out.Date published: 2019-03-11Rated 1 out of 5 by robinv from Bad After Taste I was excited to buy this at the store. After making the risotto, it has a clorine after taste. I use bottled water to cook.Date published: 2019-03-03Rated 1 out of 5 by cbusmom from Disgusting, waste of money The store clerk highly recommended this product and now I know she was just trying to increase her sale. I should have read the reviews first. It tasted like plastic mixed with chemicals. I tried adding additional seasoning and gave up and ended up dumping the entire thing in the trash and starting dinner over. Don't waste your money on this.Date published: 2019-02-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Scottie1978 from Very Good I actually really liked this starter. I am not sure why other users are saying there is a plastic taste, but I didn’t taste it and neither did anyone else who ate it. I threw some rotisserie chicken that I had left over with the other ingredients when I made the Risotto, so maybe that changed the taste. I made it according to the directions, only adding in the chicken. I love it and will reorder.Date published: 2019-02-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Tpettit from Horrible!! This product was gross. It smelled like plastic and tasted like plastic. For this upscale store to sell something like this at the price of $12.00 a bottle is ridiculous. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.Date published: 2019-02-01
