This carnitas starter brings home the authentic flavors of Mexico to enjoy in minutes. A savory blend of tomatillos, onions, garlic, chiles and spices, it transforms mealtime with exceptional flavor and ease – simply combine with sautéed pork and pressure cook for 45 minutes.

- Water, tomatillos, onion, beef stock (veal stock, veal bones, water), beef stock, mirepoix stock (carrot, celery and onion stocks), red wine, tomato paste, gelatin, salt, carrot stock, celery stock, canola oil, modified food starch, jalapeño pepper, salt, coriander, garlic, cumin, garlic powder, citric acid, serrano pepper.

Next Day Delivery
For an additional charge of $26 per address, we can expedite delivery to most destinations. This service is not available for some oversize items, items shipped directly from the supplier (including perishable and custom-manufactured items), out-of-stock items and items to be shipped outside the contiguous 48 states.
Orders received by 9:00 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Thursday will arrive the next business day; orders placed Friday through Sunday will arrive on the following Tuesday.

An original receipt or gift receipt is required for all returns and exchanges. Returns with a gift receipt will be refunded in the form of a Merchandise Credit for the amount indicated on the gift receipt. Returns with original receipt will be refunded in the original form of payment, cash and check refunds over $100 will be issued as a company check (may take 14 business days from time of request).

- Instructions for Instant Pot Carnitas Starter Sauce
4 lb. (2 kg) boneless pork shoulder, cut into 2-inch (5-cm) cubes
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 Tbs. vegetable oil
1 jar carnitas starter
Season the pork with salt and pepper. In an Instant Pot® set to Sauté, warm the oil. In batches, sear the pork, turning occasionally, until browned all over, about 8 minutes per batch. Return all the pork to the pot and stir in the carnitas starter. Lock the lid in place, seal and set to cook at high pressure for 45 minutes. When pressure cooking is complete, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining steam. Carefully remove the lid and, using tongs, transfer the pork to a bowl. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-size pieces. Using a large spoon, skim the fat from the top of the sauce. Stir the pork into the sauce and serve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Doris from Delicious and easy I used a ~4 lb bone-in pork shoulder even though the recipe called fore boneless. It was very easy to prepare and my family loved it! The pork was very tender, had great flavor and was not spicy. I did end up with ~ 2.5 cups of sauce, which is a lot in my opinion. Maybe next time I might try using just half the jar. Very easy! This was an easy sell — we bought it and looked forward to quick yummy carnitas in InstantPot...but the flavor was almost bland it was so mild. My slow-cooker recipe is so much better than this, unfortunately. Was easy to prepare though, so if you’re not picky about good flavor and just want mild, tender pork for tacos or burritos, then this will do. But for the price (and for something sold by WS), this isn’t worth a try.
