Rated 5 out of 5 by MrsAD3 from Great Molds - Quality of product and output My review is off season I’m just getting around to it. My kids love the pancakes that come out of this (imperfect and all). It takes some practice and you do have to be quick. All the reviews I’ve read seem to be spot on but knowing these things makes it easier to use them. Spray lots of nonstick spray each time, fill the molds with a smaller 1/4c measuring cup with a spout, thinner batter, don’t fill all the way just less than half and if you drip some inside the eyes or mouths, it will easily break free with a butter knife. Lower heat settings for filling and then turn up to cook. They can come out right (unless you walk away from the griddle) ;-)Date published: 2019-02-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Ballardmom from Love these!! I bought these many moons ago before having kids....I have used them yearly and we just love them. Spray lots of Pam, cook on low heat until almost done, then remove the mold and flip. Only fill molds about 1/2 way because it will rise over the mold and stickDate published: 2018-10-07Rated 3 out of 5 by JojoBri from Somewhat disappointing... I must say that I was impressed with the quality of the molds. They are made of metal, the handles rotate and they are topped with silicone tips - the molds appear to be sturdy and durable. Now having said that, it’s true that one has to be careful to avoid having batter drop in to the facial features of the molds & that’s “tricky” because of the braces that lie across the molds. Batter can also seep in to the facial features from below the mold, even if one was meticulous when pouring the batter. On my Jack-o-lantern mold, for example, the batter spreads in to one of the eyes from below the eye frame. Our home-cooked pancakes will not look like the pancakes pictured online or on the box. Despite the imperfections, however, my son enjoyed his Halloween pancakes.Date published: 2018-10-02Rated 2 out of 5 by macongirl from halloween pancake molds I was disappointed in the molds, as they were difficult to fill, for the pretty results, and ended up just using them like a cookie cutter on a large unformed pancake blob, to get the effect I needed.Date published: 2016-10-30Rated 4 out of 5 by MurphyHC from Cute - with one drawback These molds are really good quality and the adjustable handles are a nice touch. My kids were thrilled to chow down on skulls and pumpkins and bats on a Sunday morning. My only complaint is that the cut-out eyes and mouths on most of the molds are not solid, meaning you can easily drip pancake batter into them and lose detail. The molds are also pretty big, so you have to move fast to get the batter in all the nooks and crannies before the pancakes start to overcook. These are made out of a nonstick material but the instructions advise using nonstick spray on them before using - just an FYI. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase and will continue to work on my Halloween pancake technique. I do believe there's a learning curve with these.Date published: 2016-08-26
