- More about Emile Henry
Emile Henry has been crafting artful kitchen ceramics since 1850, when the French company was founded in a small town in Burgundy. Today, it's still proudly owned and operated by members of the Henry family. The mineral-rich soils of Burgundy are known for creating wines with unique terroir, but they also yield the special local clays used to craft each piece of Emile Henry cookware and bakeware. The high-fired clay withstands extremely high temperatures while distributing and retaining heat gently and evenly. Artisans hand apply the glazes to create vivid color that looks beautiful in the kitchen and at the table.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Laci from Best stone ever!!!! I bought this stone because of the size and reviews, and I love it.I bake pizza at 500 degrees on the lowest shelf and it works great. No sticking and a nice even brown crust on the bottom.I now can make pizza just as good as a expensive pizza shop for a lot less money.Date published: 2018-03-17Rated 5 out of 5 by acadia49 from Love It! I was looking for a Baking Stone that I could wash after use and I found it! I used it for the 1st time last night to make Naan bread and it works great. Now, I will use it for many of my other bread recipes....Date published: 2017-04-22Rated 5 out of 5 by NCChef from Even cooking & Easy clean up This stone cooks items evenly and is easy to clean up. It's reasonably priced for the quality and size. I like the handles. It is heavy though, so make sure you use both hands to lift it in and out of the oven.Date published: 2017-01-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Lild3bbie from Beautiful and Highly Functional Bought this mainly for baguettes and pizza. Made pizza today and results were very satisfactory. No smoking caused by the high temp of my gas oven. And clean up was a breeze! I just waited until it was cool and just ran water on it and used a polyester scrubbie and swish! Everything came off so easily! And the results of our homemade pizza dough? It was slightly crispier and crunchier and chewier with more air- if that makes any sense. I didn't think it would be possible but this thing will be replacing my pizza stone and cast iron- as it is much, much lighter and easier to handle because of the handles sculpted on the stone. I just can't wait to try it on the grill!Date published: 2016-07-25Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyStaubShopper from Great product Great non stick baking, large size, love this pan, not sure about durability, hope it last a long time, so far it's been a pleasure to useDate published: 2016-04-06Rated 5 out of 5 by BreadBakerWife from Another Great Emile Henry Product My husband gave me the Emile Henry baking stone for Christmas and I love it. The stone covers nearly the whole;e oven rack and provides a large surface for big pizzas and other breads. The crust was excellent. It is great for reheating leftover slices of pizza without spillage onto the oven floor. The clean-up was so simple...a little Bar Keepers Secret and the surface looks brand new. The two side handles make it easy to serve with as well.Date published: 2016-01-06Rated 5 out of 5 by MaineMama from Finally, great crust! Love this baking stone, and I've only used it twice. I've been trying to achieve the 'toothy' crust on my homemade breads so characteristic of artisanal breads and have failed until I used my new baking stone. Love it!Date published: 2013-09-23Rated 5 out of 5 by PalmSpringsBaker from Emile Henry Rectangular Baking Stone Fantastic Pizza Stone! Large enough to hold two individual pizzas for baking at the same time. Produced an excellent crispy evenly baked crust. The enameled surface is the key to the perfectly baked crust. I prepared my pizza dough from scratch, but you could always pre made pizza dough from the freezer section of your favorite market. Enjoy!Date published: 2013-08-31
Pizza stuck to stone??My pizza stuck on the stone despite using cornmeal. Was I supposed to pre-heat stone before putting dough on stone?? or grease it first?? Thanks for any help you can offer. I wish manufacturer had included more info on using this item.I don't know what product you are using, but when I bought my Emile Henry Pizza Stone, there were clear instructions on how to use it. When I turn on the oven I place my stone on the rack. When the oven is heated to correct temperature, the stone is ready too. If you do this, you probably will not have any problems with sticking, especially if you're using cornmeal. I have not oiled mine at any time.Date published: 2013-10-22
Does this have a warranty, andWhat is the warranty on this? I know WS has good lifetime warranties on their products so if this cracks in 5yrs can I take it to the store for another? AND, is it true that it needs to be preheated for 60minutes prior to use? We don't make much pizza, I would be using it for breads mostly but I can't imagine have my home heated @ 450+ for 60 minutes plus bake time. ThanksI do not know the warranty information on the Emile Henry stones. But, unless you drop it or bang it VERY hard, there should not be a problem. I do not heat mine 60 min. prior to use. When I turn on the oven, I put the stone in and it is ready when the oven reaches the correct temperature for what you are cooking. I have used it for bread as well as pizza and have had NO problems.
