Rated 5 out of 5 by Mom of Dawson from Bakes beautifully I got the results I wanted first time round--crisp crust and moist, chewy interior. As for the color, I prefer the navy. I started out with the white cloche, but was spending 30 minutes each time cleaning the platter. Navy doesn't show the dark spots. Also, while the instruction booklet recommends dusting the platter with flour, my loaves still stuck. I switched to cornmeal, and the loaves lifted off cleanly.Date published: 2019-12-29Rated 5 out of 5 by Lorifran57 from Awesome Baker I LOVE this. I just got it last night and even called the company to ask some details on proper use (they are wonderful people on phone). I made several gluten free breads today. OUTSTANDING results. I’m a good cook but this cloche baker is terrific. I normally use Le Creuset and Staub pots to bake a GF Boule (Artisan bread) in, but this came out perfect, and yes when one cooks correctly GF bread tastes exactly like regular bread and will have the same texture when finished. This baker just turned it into one big easy to do.Date published: 2019-08-01Rated 5 out of 5 by vermontmomoftwo from Pricey--but well worth it I get it--this is an expensive piece of kitchen equipment. That said, it is pure joy to use and look at. For something this high quality and handmade, shipped over from France, etc., you get what you pay for. This photo shows you my first attempt at using this cloche. If this is my first attempt, then my future bodes well with it. Highly recommended, and it would make a beautiful gift.Date published: 2017-10-15Rated 5 out of 5 by yvon84 from Beautiful and Functional Just used it to bake up a batch of the "quick-rise" bread from the recipe booklet. Started around 9 am and had fresh bread for lunch. Bread had a crisp crust - and was soft on the inside - perfect! A word of warning - I used the recipe's weight settings and found that 500 g. of flour was a bit much. I used about 400g. (American bread flour) - and it was perfect. It's so lovely that it makes you want to use it. The ceramic bowl that comes with it is great to use as a rising/resting bowl. I might use that instead of my trusty metal mixing bowl.Date published: 2017-09-18Rated 5 out of 5 by grannycee from YAY! I began the process of learning to bake artisan sourdough breads. I had been using a small dutch oven but the bread would often stick and sometimes in was hard to get it directly into the hot oven. I decided to take advantage of a savings offer and I am so happy! It took my bread making up a few notches! I love it! Exactly what I wanted and needed!Date published: 2017-05-10Rated 5 out of 5 by 1OldBear from Easiest, best bread ever! I've never been much of a baker. Mostly I'm a stovetop cook who uses his oven to braise or roast. However I love hot, home made bread and after trying a whole raft of other methods finally got one of these out of desperation. It's a winner. My very first loaf could have come from the artisan bakery of your choice. It's going to see a lot of use. I may even get the baguette baker to go along with it. Are there any drawbacks? Yeah, round loaves are kind of clumsy if you want to make sandwiches. Hey, Emile, how about a sandwich loaf cloche? I'd get on in a heartbeat! Pair this with a KitchenAid Pro stand mixer and go to town.Date published: 2017-01-20Rated 5 out of 5 by RetiredGuyCooks from Raising the bar in bread baking This cloche is a great tool if you bake bread (in round loaves) regularly. I have used if for Artisan bread at 450 degrees and a favorite honey wheat at 350 degrees with excellent success. I did not know it when I bought the product, but it included a matching mixing bowl that is perfect for 3 cup loaves. Packaging was excellent, perhaps the best packaged item I have received in years. My last computer purchase was not that well protected.Date published: 2016-12-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Kathy7931 from Fantastic Bread I had some issues with the delivery of this item, but Williams-Sonoma was able to take care of everything very satisfactorily. Thank you very much. The quality of bread that you get from this cloche rivals any bakery. I've tried baking on a stone with a pan of water in the oven, but could never achieve the results I expected. Crispy exterior and soft chewy interior. I am very pleased with this purchase. The Emile Henry baguette baker is also wonderful.Date published: 2016-07-06
