The de Buyer family has been making cookware in the French town of Val-d’Ajol since 1830. The family-owned company originally crafted pots and cauldrons for cooking over a live fire using iron ore extracted from the region. Pairing modern technology with a timeless attention to quality, De Buyer still creates cookware in the classic French shapes and materials traditionally used in professional kitchens. In addition to copper and iron collections, the company also offers stainless-steel and nonstick lines to meet the needs of today’s home cooks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Joanna from Outstanding pan!!! Received for Christmas, followed instructions to rinse in hot water, dry. And then season by cooking 1/3 c oil, 2/3 c salt, and potato peels from 2 potatoes, in pan, mixing constantly, until crispy -15 mins. So my first batch of crepes needed butter to prevent sticking. After I was done, I wiped out the pan with a paper towel, and wiped the bottom also. Today made crepes, starting with a little butter in pan. By the end, no need to butteR in between crepes. They slid out perfectly. Key is for pan to be more toward warm than hot when you add 1/4 cup batter and swirl around. If too hot, batter will instantly bubble and you don’t want that. So set aside pan for a minute, then add batter, swirl, and last place it back over heat. My recipe was from Nigel and it is to mix 1 egg and 1 yolk, add 350ml or 1 1/2 cups milk and whisk well. Add 100 grams of flour into the milk mixture by sifting and continuing to whisk. Add 50 grams melted butter slowly and whisk. Absolutely perfect!!!Date published: 2019-12-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Rjpop from Perfect Crepes I received this pan as a gift. I cook crepes every Subday for my daughters and have been using this pan for 3 years now. It is still in the same condition as when I received it and makes fantastic crepes (and the occassional steak)! Excellent value on a versatile pan.Date published: 2019-12-08Rated 5 out of 5 by pam78 from Love at the second try The first time using it was a little tricky (crepes sticking, breaking, turning out too light or too dark) and it wasn’t until the last Crêpe of the batch that turned out perfect. I guess it needed seasoning and practice. I now use it pretty frequently and all crepes turn out great, from first to the last. Mine never rusted either, and I have had it for over a year and even put it in the dishwasher. I do add a little bit of butter to melt before every new crepe.Date published: 2019-09-11Rated 1 out of 5 by Shayi16 from Couldn’t use it Bought this four months ago. Followed directions before first use. Crepes got stuck on pan from the beginning. Today Intook it out to see if I can male it work and it’s all rusted.Date published: 2019-06-16Rated 2 out of 5 by Lynn from Disappointed after first use I bought the de buyer crepe pan kit several months ago. Before I used it I followed the instructions of heating in the oven with oil before and after the use. If we put it away and covered it so it wouldn't get scratched by other pans. I got it out yesterday to use and there was a rust spot about the size of a nickel on it and it was sticky. Does anyone have any suggestionsDate published: 2019-04-23Rated 5 out of 5 by OLaLa from Fantastic 10+ years I got this as a wedding gift 10 years ago, and still love and use it. The spatula is perfect!Date published: 2017-05-11Rated 1 out of 5 by Mom of 5 from Coating came off the bottom Rusting!! Same thing happened to my pan the coating/ paint came off the bottom and is rusting It's been hand washed only, hope this is just a defective one, customer servie will send out a replacement, (other than that it's a great pan lightweight)Date published: 2017-02-16Rated 1 out of 5 by wildmom from Poor Quality The pan is of very poor quality. The coating came off after one use (hand washed) and rusts.Date published: 2017-02-01
With the red coating on the handle, can this still be used in the oven as well as on the stove? Can it be seasoned in the oven? No, I would not season in the oven. Rinse with hot water and dry with towel. Put on stove, add 1/3 cup oil, 2/3 cup kosher salt, and potato peels from 2 large potatoes, mix continuously and cook over medium fire until peels are crispy and browned. Wipe it out and rinse off, then dry well. Make sure to use butter for each crepe that you make in your first batch. After the first batch, wipe out your pan. Shouldn’t need more than a tiny bit of butter to start your second batch, and none in between your crepes. Good luck!Date published: 2019-12-29
