- Panfried Falafel with Cumin and Garlic
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the chickpeas and cook until slightly softened but still very firm in the center, about 10 minutes. Drain the chickpeas and let cool slightly.
In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic and parsley and process until coarsely pureed. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the baking powder, cumin, the 3/4 tsp. salt and the red pepper flakes. Refrigerate the mixture until cold, about 1 hour.
In a large nonstick fry pan over medium-high heat, warm about 1 Tbs. of the olive oil. With wet hands, shape 1/4-cup portions of the chickpea mixture into patties about 3 inches wide. Place 3 or 4 patties at a time in the pan and cook, turning once, until browned on both sides, 4 to 6 minutes total. Repeat to shape and cook the remaining falafel, adding more olive oil to the pan as needed. Serve immediately. Makes 12 to 14 patties; serves 4.

We returned it after using it once.Date published: 2017-02-20Rated 5 out of 5 by ClaraP from Perfect for small jobs This food processor is perfect for small jobs, yes, it's noisy, but it is to be expected! So convenient and the price makes it even better!Date published: 2016-12-01Rated 1 out of 5 by PamInSeattle from NOT worth the money Have had this mini prep for 11 months (used it maybe 20 times) and treated it with care. Today when I locked the lid in place, a piece of the plastic lid went flying across the counter (for no particular reason). Now it doesn't lock in place so the unit is rendered useless. I don't see that you can replace just the lid - I don't see any warranty information - I fear this is a total bust.Date published: 2016-11-13Rated 2 out of 5 by Nellysabel from It's ok, except for one small thing... The top doesn't seal when you close it, so liquid and dry ingredients will spill when you chop or grind. I waited too long to try it so I can't return it, but I would if I could. I'll use it anyway, I'll manage, but it will be annoying.Date published: 2016-03-17Rated 1 out of 5 by ThatsItalian from SO Unimpressed I purchased this specifically to use to chop food for my mom while she waited a month for her dentures to be made (and had no upper teeth - I know, TMI). I first tried it to chop chunks of Parmesan cheese for a recipe and the lid popped off - I had to hold the container together for it to finish the job. I had cut the cheese into chunks of about 1 1/2 inches. In other tries, it seems to either not break something up enough or grind it into too small pieces - I thought it was me needing to adapt to it but several times later, same thing. I could discern no difference between the chop and grind mode. It might be fine for parsley, garlic in small amounts, but in larger amounts it might liquefy. Also, the plastic bowl and top seems cheap and flimsy to me. Needless to say, I returned the machine.Date published: 2015-05-31Rated 4 out of 5 by AnnieLaurie from Works fine It's useful but I find it difficult to assemble. Look for a better one.Date published: 2015-03-14Rated 5 out of 5 by GoldensRule from Great little workhorse Used this for the first time a few days ago and I love it. I had an older small mini Cuisinart for years and it still worked but when I had my kitchen redone I bought a lot of new small appliances and this was one of them. This little 4-cup works so much better than my older model, love that the blade locks, the size is larger without taking up anymore space and it chops so evenly. I hardly ever need to drag out my full size Cusinart, this one sits on my counter all the time and I'm looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it.Date published: 2015-01-11
