Rated 3 out of 5 by AnnieH from Easy, but lackluster results I bought this for a Christmas gift for my husband a year ago and after a year of hearing him complain about its lugging down over grinding the beans....and inconsistent grind, I gave up and bought him a Baratza - for Christmas. While the digital controls seem to make the whole grinding/measuring process a no-brainer, we found inconsistencies in the resulting amount, as well the grind. We'll give this one away to someone who doesn't expect as much! I cleaned it up to look like new and that was easy, in all fairness. Yes, there is some static. Grinding coffee is somewhat messy no matter what kind of grinder you have. We ground the beans the night before to let the static settle with good results. Even scooping coffee out of a can is messy!Date published: 2018-01-02Rated 3 out of 5 by MiretteA from Impractical Design I've had this grinder for a month now, so it is working well & I'm happy with the quality & consistency of the grind. However, I fail to see the wisdom of the engineering design. The triangular, narrow top shape of the bin doesn't allow my hand easy access to loosen up the ground coffee stuck to the walls. I buy very expensive beans & I'm not willing to lose some of it on the sides & bottom of the bin because my hand can't reach inside.Date published: 2017-02-01Rated 1 out of 5 by finalreview from stay away! Bought this from WS about a year ago. It's been a full year of misery. 1. It is VERY messy! The machine creates static when grinding beans, coffee particles always fly around the kitchen while you grind. 2. the plastic container for grinds is made so poorly. I dropped it once and a bottom corner broke off on my hardwood floor. The seams of the container also breaking apart. Plan to buy the OXO instead. I recommend gifting this grinder to your enemies.Date published: 2017-01-07Rated 2 out of 5 by AnnieKay from Love it, Hate it The grinder works well, but makes a huge mess. Requires counter cleanup after each use. I would not recommend this product.Date published: 2016-12-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Ashbaugh from The Best grinder ever! This is a great grinder and looks very sophisticated. t is so nice you leave it out on the counter. It has many grinding settings for each type of coffee.Date published: 2016-01-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Janet703 from We love it!! This is a great coffee grinder. We love it. I'm sure $500 machines are better... but for us this is such a step up from a blade grinder... and reasonably priced. We do French press coffee ... and really needed consistent coarse ground coffee that isn't burnt by hot blades. We are so pleased with it, we bought one for our son and daughter-in-law. Yes it is a little noisy for the few seconds it runs (but less noisy than out old a blade grinder), and yes you get a few ground floating around (again not worse than a blade grinder).... and what great results. We use it on weekends and other days as a treat when we have time to do French press coffee. It has great controls -- number of cups of coffee to grind for and about 20 coarseness settings.Date published: 2015-05-04Rated 5 out of 5 by RickG from Great machine I’d like to address the negative comments I’ve read about this product. People say it’s loud. This is a grinder, so by definition it’s loud. Is it too loud? No. It’s not nearly as loud as a blender, garbage disposal or vacuum cleaner. It’s not as loud as the blade grinder it replaced. The sound is by no means objectionable. People say it’s messy. You’re grinding coffee beans, so yes; there will be some residual dust. The amount depends on how fine you grind and how careless you are.. I use the machine for hand drip coffee (Chemex) and I found that the setting for French press coffee works best. I use #12. I weigh my beans, so I grind them manually rather than use the cup setting. I do not use the automatic function. I would not hesitate to recommend this machine. One complaint - the machine does not have an on/off switch, so it has to be plugged in to use it and unplugged when finished.Date published: 2015-01-04Rated 3 out of 5 by Terry42 from Love It, Hate It Never a problem anymore getting expresso grind or drip grind, - perfect grind every time. Also like the setting for the number of cups - saves measuring. But what a mess it makes! Take the top off to measure & coffee flies out. Coffee clings to the plastic parts - and then falls onto the counter top. Oh, and behind the removable container more coffee is lurking - how does it get there?. Sometimes feel I am breathing the flying coffee. Constant clean up is required - how did this design make it out of the testing lab?.Date published: 2014-12-18
