Rated 1 out of 5 by bummed from Unfortunately, it's junk This thing started off great: the cold brew actually tastes pretty good (especially considering average price a 16oz cup that's filled 50% with ice is around $5, and it really is ready in about 30 minutes, give or take. The problem is that it broke! And then it broke again! I wonder how long the average high-rating reviewer below actually had this thing for before they went ahead and reviewed, because it looks like the release valve (which lets the coffee out of the brewing vat and into the carafe) is just cheaply made. If I had to guess, Cuisinart had this great new thing, but it was expensive to make, and some genius suggested they swap in a cheaper release valve ... viola - a great product turned into a crummy one. My first one broke after about 4-6 weeks. Williams Sonoma allowed me to exchange for a new one, which was nice, but then that one broke (in the same way) almost immediately. I should note that I did try to follow the instructions on cleaning, care, etc. and that I did not find relief through doing so. Personally, I have come to the idea that the way to go here is to just accept that you have to make cold brew over night, and that a simpler machine with less moving parts will create a lot less problems for me. Also, it is kind of loud, even when it does work.Date published: 2019-11-25Rated 1 out of 5 by Mae02 from You can’t rush cold brew I returned. You cannot rush old brew-it just tastes like iced coffee. Cold brew is a different taste.Date published: 2019-09-27Rated 5 out of 5 by SDS0728 from Better than St*rbucks Truly incredible homemade cold brew. I make two large batches of freshly ground dark roast beans on “bold” to get the best flavor. I store this coffee in a larger glass jug in the fridge and have enough to drink a “grande” sized beverage every morning for 5-6 days. Some others have commented on the sound which I do not think is a noteworthy issue. Machine spins intermittently for the 45 minutes of brewing. No louder than a dishwasher (as compared to a louder appliance such as a blender or food processor). It’s a mid-pitch whirring type of sound and does not distract from daily living or disturb napping children. Highly recommend soaking the strainer components in hot soapy water for an hour or so after using before allowing them to air dry. Incredibly easy to use and easy to clean but design does include a small strainer the size of a thimble. Mine already found its way into the garbage disposal and is no longer usable. However, the other strainers on the unit make this component non-essential. I’d recommend they just remove it if every revising the design.Date published: 2019-09-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Dan McD from Great Machine I love the machine - I just wish there was a way to brew a larger amount as I brew about 4 pots back to back to last me the week.Date published: 2019-09-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Marebear from Fast, delicious cold brew coffee.
