Rated 1 out of 5 by Mary from Completely discolored and tarnished after 1st us We registered for this beautiful kettle for our wedding. After only its FIRST use and while the water was boiling we noticed it had totally discolored and tarnished. Again, just after one use. Extremely disappointing given the high price tag and we will definitely be returning. Also, concerns me about the other items in the copper collection we have on our registryDate published: 2017-05-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Tinsleymay from Tarnishes quickly, problems with whistle This is a beautiful teapot but aesthetics aside the quality leaves much to be desired. First, I went through 5 - yes 5 - different kettles before I finally received one with a working whistle! Truly unbelievable from a reputable company and at this price point, hence the 1 star rating. Second, be aware that the copper quickly tarnishes and develops a patina, which is natural for copper. However, if you want your kettle to look like the photo you will have to regularly use a copper cleaner which is not good for the life of the copper. I would not recommend this product.Date published: 2017-04-25Rated 5 out of 5 by ChefRickey from Absolutely Beautiful! Love this copper tea kettle! Sounds like an train whistle, heats fast, cleans easily. Highly recommend. The copper is very easy to clean with Maulviel's Copperbrill Copper-Cleaning Paste.Date published: 2017-02-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Scott from Great Copper Kettle i have seen reviews mentioning the 'labor' of maintaining the copper. The patina you get is what you get with copper. If this is an issue, buy a stainless. We have copper pots and pans that have yet to be polished over the past 10 years. That's what you get with copper. It's the cooking that matters, not the appearance.Date published: 2017-02-22Rated 1 out of 5 by Mimigrandma from Copper Tea Kettle I purchased this kettle for a Christmas gift. Within several uses, it has turned color. I would not recommend this kettle. I am deeply disappointed in this item especially for the over $100 price tag.Date published: 2017-01-26Rated 3 out of 5 by Olivier917 from Must Agree I must agree with the majority of the reviews. The kettle is of good quality but the beautiful copper finish began leaving after the first boil. Have yet to clean it but not sure how cleaning it will bring back the copper color. The worse thing about this kettle is the ungodly train whistle. This thing literally sounds like a locomotive is driving through the flat. I would never have thought about this being a deal breaker but it kinda is. I have resorted to boiling it with the whistle up. Other then the finish the kettle is of sound quality, have not had any issues with leaking.Date published: 2016-12-28Rated 1 out of 5 by Sonic from Discoloured after one use I can confirm what everyone else here is saying: after literally only one, brief, monitored use, the copper finish has already completely worn off in places with large patches of stainless steel showing through.Date published: 2016-10-24Rated 4 out of 5 by PollyM from Beautiful Sounding Tea Kettle I've had this tea kettle for at least seven years, and while the high maintenance of the copper cost it one star, every other quality of this tea kettle is outstanding. It's hefty, heats evenly and quickly, and has a unique train whistle that's deep, rich and harmonic. I do tire of polishing it, but when it's maintained (which really isn't that often), it's a beautiful piece in my kitchen. No regrets!Date published: 2016-04-06
