Jars Cantine Individual Bowls, Set of 4
Rated 1 out of 5 by Mr Mom from Here I go Again Just had another plate crack on me. I had my last set of dishes for over twenty years without a crack or chip (Mikasa). Now I have to make another trip to the local WS store for a singe dinner plate. I like the Jars, but there is something wrong when you pull a plate off the counter to rinse off with hot water and the thing cracks in your hand. Not too happy.Date published: 2017-07-23Rated 2 out of 5 by LyonHeartedMama from Beautiful but not durable or chip resistant We got a set of orange and light blue for our wedding registry four years ago. We started our set with one coming in the mail cracked so we brought it in store for replacement. Two years after using the set one of the light blue plates started to show a crack, then chipped along the crack and then eventually broke fully. This year another one has done the same. We don't use a microwave or a dishwasher with our plates. I am not sure why they do not last very long. So intensely disappointed to throw expensive plates in the garbage.Date published: 2017-07-19Rated 5 out of 5 by leslieinaustin from perfect everyday plates--an amazing value I bought 8 plates in light blue a year and a half ago and love them. In fact, I like them so much I bought 4 more a month later just to have a larger set. They are a very pretty color and finish (slightly crackled look is beautiful), they look elegant, they are reasonably durable (we have not broken any, but we don't have small children), and they are a good size for everyday use (not too big so as to dwarf reasonable food portions). Other nice features are that they are thin so that when you stack them in the cupboard they take up much less space than many other plates. The underside is slightly rough (it is unglazed). I like this because it has a handmade feel but it is different from fine china. I like these so much I've decided to buy the bowls. This line is an amazing value if you can get them on sale.Date published: 2016-11-20Rated 5 out of 5 by PatrickB from No Cracking, Nice Plates Bought these plates about a month ago and all is perfect. French Made Stoneware? Yes, count me in. You will be please with your purchase and want to buy more. No problems with hot food nor dishwashers. Not sure what the others were talking about with cracking.Date published: 2015-12-03Rated 5 out of 5 by JB100 from Great product. I have used my Jars Cantine dinnerware daily for several years now and have had no problems. I put the dishes in the microwave, dishwasher and have never had a problem. Great product, I bang them accidentally and they have never chipped.Date published: 2015-12-03Rated 5 out of 5 by francofle from love these dishes I am writing in response to the negative reviews, because my family has used these white plates and bowls daily for at least 3 years and everything looks brand new. No chips, scratches, stains on the back, or cracks. My one caution is that we have had problems when I have left dishes with tomato sauce or salsa remnants sitting for hours before rinsing. Twice the sauce has leached into the surface crackling, and it has taken much effort and patience to remove the red stains with either comet or barkeeper's friend. If I do a quick rinse after a meal (which I should be doing anyway!) there is no problem. We also stack them normally in the cabinet, without material between the plates, and there has been no scuffing. I am ordering more now in the blue color since I like them so much.Date published: 2014-12-28Rated 5 out of 5 by JimStPaul from Love them - no cracking We bought a total set of 24 about 1 year ago - a pretty big investment for our kitchen, but fell in love with the red. Have since bought the serving platters and bowls as well. I was logging in to see the other colors and was surprised to see these reviews on cracking. We have heavily used these for about the last year - 3 kids - and have not lost a single piece to a chip or crack.Date published: 2014-12-08Rated 1 out of 5 by skigirl from Plates crack, NOT microwave safe After 25 years (sasaki colorstone matte white), we decided to get new dishes. I loved the green and ordered 16 place settings (plates, salads, bowls, mugs). I've lost one bowl and three plates since the end of June 2014. They crack! Heated up leftovers in the microwave 40 seconds, had the plate in my hand, and pop!, there goes the plate. Two others have cracked when I've set cold meat on them to bring up to room temp before grilling. They're very expensive and last a couple of months. Just totally disgusted with the whole thing.Date published: 2014-10-07
