Rated 5 out of 5 by dltesta223 from Best Poached egg pan I am buying a second. My family has several already. Great pan. I use it several times a week. People complain about egg leaking out and a small amount sometimes does but usually it is because the simmer is not right. Drain them on a paper towel before putting on your plate. Best eggs ever SO EASY to make.Date published: 2017-10-29Rated 5 out of 5 by cookingisfunforme from Follow the video Terrific poached eggs if you follow the video and not the instructions with the box. I like that I can make 1 to 4 at a time. I have not had any sticking issues. If you do, use oil on a paper towel to wipe cups. Do not use a spray oil with propellant on this type of surface, as over time buildup will cause items to stick. The included lid is only for using the pan without the poaching cups.Date published: 2017-01-03Rated 4 out of 5 by Saguaro from Great poacher - use with non-stick spray I purchased this product 4+ years ago. It has been tried and true with consistent, quality poached eggs. The individual cups are a great concept as I prefer harder yolks and my family vice versa. To prevent the eggs from sticking to the cups, I spray with a non-stick spray prior to use. (Spray the cups over the sink so that you don't get the oil from the spray all over the kitchen). Cleans nicely with warm dish soap (or in the dishwasher). The only complaint I have (hence the 4 stars) is that the coating on the bottom of the pan has cooked off. I have a gas range; this product must not be compatible. Nevertheless, the interior of the pan and the cups are still pristine.Date published: 2016-12-29Rated 3 out of 5 by Lucylou33 from Eggs Cook Well The Good: The pan is sturdy with a nice lid and can also be used for other purposes, so it is versatile. The Bad: The egg whites do leave a residue and stick slightly to the bottom of the poaching baskets, which require vigorous hand-washing as they will not get clean in the dishwasher without pre-scrubbing. Egg whites do leak from the holes, but not excessively. The underside of the pan is slippery and can easily slide on the grates of my gas stovetop. I have the four-cup pan. The pan could easily fit five of the poaching cups, so I am puzzled as to why five cups were not included. The pan is very expensive. The eggs do cook well and I have been happy with the results, but I suggest oiling the cups to help prevent sticking.Date published: 2016-10-18Rated 5 out of 5 by JaneMcK from The Directions are WRONG! My instincts told me that using 1 1/2 cups of water was not enough, but I did as the directions said. Of course it didn't work! I checked out You Tube and one of the two demos said to fill to the bottom of the metal rivets holding the handles in...that made sense! I highly recommend wiping the cups with a tiny bit of oil as it make clean up even easier! After filling with pan with water and allowing the eggs to cook about 3-31/2 minutes I achieved perfection! Poached Eggs and toast, poached eggs on hamburgers, steak... On most anything adds flair and is delicious! Now I love my egg poacher and don't heiste to use it regularly! And, the bonus pan is great on its own! I highly recommend this if you experience hit and miss when poaching the usual way.Date published: 2016-04-17Rated 1 out of 5 by ncsf from Very disappointed The holes leak the egg into the pan . It sticks, the lid does not fit whe using the cups. What a waste ! Eggs were watery. Don't buy this!Date published: 2016-02-13Rated 3 out of 5 by butc from Egg poacher I really like the pan. The egg cups after a few washings by hand the egg sticks. Very disappointing for the amount of money spent.Date published: 2016-01-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Coquelicot from Great egg-poacher I bought the Calphalon egg-poacher several years ago, after agonizing whether I wanted to spend so much money on yet another egg poacher. I love poached eggs and I've tried more than 1/2 a dozen styles over the years. I've even tried Julia Childs recommendation of dropping a very fresh egg (I got one from the hen of a neighbor) into quarts of boiling water. But, I love the Calphalon egg poacher. I use it 4-6 times a week. I can use an egg basket in a smaller sauce pan with no problem. I use it for Eggs Benedict, and just everyday. I just love it. I still think it's too expensive and I wish I could buy the baskets separately - but I am very glad that I bought it.Date published: 2015-12-21
