Rated 1 out of 5 by normanthecook from Calphalon 7-Qt. Sauteuse, liquid goes in lid rim I have Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 7-Qt. Sauteuse With Cover. The lid rim is full of cooking liquid and does not come out. Very interesting that this website does not allow me to upload Photos (the feature fails in error). Calphalan has a design flaw in the lid.Date published: 2019-05-04Rated 1 out of 5 by not happy1 from defective top! I returned this sauteuse pan once already because the top was defective. I received the second pan, and again the top is defective, the rim holds water that will not come out when you clean it or use it. I paid a lot of money for this pan and am upset. If it were not for the fact that the pan itself cooks very well, I would go through all of the trouble of returning it again. Be aware of the top. The store would no let me exchange the top alone. So I will keep the pan. But I am not happy about this at all.Date published: 2018-12-16Rated 5 out of 5 by Queenie from How Do I Love Thee? Let me count the ways I love the surface area--13" diameter--for sauteeing. It is bigger than the burner (gas), but it still heats evenly. I used to need to do my sauteeing in 2 or 3 batches; now I can do it in one. It's great, too, for reducing liquids. The pan is deeper than skillets, which means less spattering, and a larger capacity. I don't have to worry about acidic ingredients. With some trepidation, I even grilled steaks in it; they turned out perfectly! It can go from stovetop to oven. It cleans easily. I've had the sauteuse about a month, and I'm using it almost every day. The pan has a nice weight--heavy enough, but not so heavy that it's hard to lift. I like its shortish handles. The only question is: will I ever use my cast iron skillet again?Date published: 2018-01-20Rated 5 out of 5 by Mouse from LOVE this pan!!! I have been using Calphalon for many years, BEST cookware out there!Date published: 2018-01-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Old Guy from Can't beat the products We have two small frypans and two larger frypans. Based on the performance of those items we bought the large Sauteuse. We have not been disappointed a great product and well worth the price/Date published: 2017-07-19Rated 5 out of 5 by johncip from Best cooking device ever! I've used this fry pan for 18 months now. I love it so much I've purchased two more for my daughters. The design is perfect!Date published: 2017-02-01Rated 5 out of 5 by BB11 from Cooking versatility I wanted a pan to accommodate stove top casseroles and meats with sauces. A Dutch oven doesn't always seem necessary as it's too deep. This works perfectly. I used it first for chicken and dumplings and I think the dumplings fared better in this shallower pan.Date published: 2017-01-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Slocomfy from Love this huge pot! Great multi-use pan, love the surface diameter of 14". We use for braised short ribs, Dutch babies, pastas. Easy to store with 2 short handles. One of our favorites for sure!Date published: 2017-01-03

I have a glass top stove that says burner is 12” burner (actually measures 11”). Manual says pan should not extend more than 1” beyond burner. Will this pan be too big? I use 12” pans but this one is 13.5”.
Hi MabelLucy, The rim diameter is wider than the bottom diameter, which is 13”. This pan will work on your 12” burner.Date published: 2019-02-13
