- Pork Ribs with Scallion Rice Recipe
In a large bowl, toss the ribs with the sesame oil and salt. Transfer to a 4-quart microwavable container about 4 inches high and 9 inches wide; the ribs can be lightly stacked but do not compact them. Cover with 2 sheets of plastic wrap. Microwave at 100% power for 30 minutes
Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, hoisin sauce, honey, onion powder, garlic powder, Chinese five spice, ginger powder, vinegar and beet powder to make the char siu sauce; set aside.
After 30 minutes, remove the container with the ribs from the microwave. Lift off the plastic wrap from one corner, pulling it away from you to avoid releasing steam. Pour off the accumulated fat from the container. Pour the char siu sauce over the ribs and cover tightly with the plastic wrap. Microwave at 100% power for 10 minutes. Remove the container from the microwave and let the ribs rest, covered, for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, make the scallion rice: Place the green onions and oil in a mini food processor and pulse until a thick paste forms. Place the rice in a 1- to 2-quart container about 6 inches wide and stir in the green onion paste. Add the water and salt and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Microwave at 100% power for 5 minutes, then on 50% power for 5 minutes. Remove the container from the microwave and let the rice rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
Spoon the rice down the center of a platter and place the ribs on the rice. Spoon some of the sauce over and around the ribs so it drips down onto the rice. Garnish with the green portion of the green onions. Serve immediately. Serves 6.

Rated 1 out of 5 by aaaa from disappointing Purchased from store. Interior is peeling. Rust has filled in uncoated areas.Date published: 2018-01-17Rated 1 out of 5 by EuropeanCook from Piece of Junk We 've had this microwave for 2.5 years. At about the 18-24 month mark it began making a disconcerting noise and shortly thereafter it stopped heating normally. It is just getting worse with time. It now takes me 5 minutes to get something lukewarm that used to take 30 seconds to heat very hot. I really noticed the difference while staying recently at a cheap hotel while my husband was on business and the microwave there outperformed ours hands down, and I'm sure it cost all of $20-$40. We have been really unimpressed with Williams Sonoma's cooking electrics. We were gifted a crock pot when we were married and used it a total of 3-4 times before it completely died. We have a Breville countertop oven which is on its last legs, and we also purchased an induction burner which lasted all of a year. We'll be searching for a new microwave based on consumer reviews and won't be buying anymore cooking electrics from Williams Sonoma. We love our pots and pans so it's really disappointing we have to search for cooking electrics elsewhere.Date published: 2017-12-30Rated 5 out of 5 by viclizwal from Perfect In My Book! I received this as a gift over one year ago from my dear late uncle whom loved anything from William Sonoma. He thought of kitchenwares and small appliances as heirlooms. He only bought high-end, well made items. We use this everyday and have not had one issue whatsoever. There is a slight learning curve with this, but just read all of the instructions or watch some of the videos. It is extremely convenient to be able to adjust the power while it is still on. We use the feature every time we hear something sizzling a little more than necessary. The timer is also completely adjustable while in use, which is fantastic when in a hurry. As we are in our 20s, we use the reheat options often with our leftovers and it turns out perfect every time. Pizza is always perfectly reheated. It heats evenly; there are no hot spots or cold spots. While it is not silent, it is still very quiet. When it is on, I cannot hear it at all from about 45 feet away. The beep is also adjustable from pretty quiet to loud enough for a senior citizen. Cleaning is as easy as most microwaves. I hate to admit it, but it can make a mean microwave lasagna. The crust is perfectly crunchy and gooey in all the right places. All-in-all, it is fantastic and I highly recommend.Date published: 2017-08-01Rated 1 out of 5 by GGRR from Breville Quick Touch Microwave Owned this microwave for almost 6 months. Purchased around the holidays and loved it until one day the microwave malfunctioned. The LCD display would not turn off and every time the door was closed the microwave would start running until the preset 30 second timer turned it off. Williams-Sonoma replaced the item but sadly, the second microwave is also going back. When the door was open on the second microwave, the light inside dimmed and the turntable kept turning. The microwave is beautiful and this is my first Breville purchase. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend.Date published: 2017-05-01Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed from Expensive and inferior quality- Don't buy I purchased this microwave oven and within 6 months it went haywire and would automatically increase its time (i.e. go from 2 minutes to 20 minutes)! It did it on a regular basis and became a fire hazard. I was able to exchange it for a new one which lasted exactly the warranty time of a year and broke down and now I need to purchase a new one. For the price one would expect a lot better quality. Very expensive for an inferior product. With all the other unsatisfied reviews I am surprised Williams Sonoma has continued to carry and sell this product. I expected better from a store I have grown to trust.Date published: 2017-02-20Rated 1 out of 5 by EmilyRWW from Does not live up to Breville name We were excited enough to see Breville offering a microwave, that we justified the expense. While it lasted, we were impressed with the design and functionality. However, after 18 months, it stopped working. It made very loud noise & stopped heating food. The timeline falls outside the warranty period of one year (which we didn't extend bc of quality implied by name and cost). When I contacted Breville to inform them of what I can only assume is a defective product, I was told that my only option is to pay $160 flat rate to have it serviced, though the replacement product would not be guaranteed. The cost to have it serviced is double what most competitors' microwaves rated even higher by consumer reports, etc cost brand new. I simply cannot justify sinking another $160 into a machine that doesn't hold its value. Will replace it with a brand better reputed for microwaves. Very disappointed in Breville's new product & lack of consideration of their customer base.Date published: 2016-09-23Rated 4 out of 5 by Nancyee from Perfect except for one very important thing! Love this microwave and love the way it operates except for one MAJOR problem. The timer button is located on the shortcut panel which is only accessable when you open the door. This is incredibly inconvenient. Not only that, the cooking functions do not seem to work while the timer is counting down (or up), so basically, the oven becomes useless when using the timer. This is a major drawback. I still like the oven inspite of the timer issue. I see that the newer model has the timer button on the outside of the oven, but not sure if the cooking functions operate while using the timer.Date published: 2016-05-04Rated 5 out of 5 by LilyBell2 from Very happy with the Breville microwave I have been very happy with my other Breville appliances so, when my old microwave's door latch recently stopped functioning properly, I decided to try the microwave. Admittedly, selecting the time and temperature by turning knobs instead of tapping buttons took a bit of getting used to, but it's not all that different from my Breville Smart Oven, which I love, and the microwave does have plenty of shortcut options available at the touch of a button. I really like the Sensor IQ feature, and the "A Bit More" button. I also like that I can melt chocolate or soften butter with the touch of a button. Bottom line, I find I don't miss the Inverter Technology of my prior brand at all, and I really thought I would. . This is a well built appliance that should last for a long time. The user interface is intuitive, and easy to navigate. I'm happy with it.Date published: 2016-04-29
