Care

  • Pizza stone: To avoid damage, wipe surface with a soft, damp sponge after each use. If more thorough cleaning is required, remove stone with extreme care, then clean top with firm sponge and warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly; never soak stone or place in dishwasher. Unplug oven before reinstalling the cleaned stone.
  • Pizza peel: Dishwasher-safe. Avoid abrasive cleaners and metal scouring pads, as they may damage the surface.
  • Pizza pan: Requires initial seasoning. Follow instructions included with the oven before first use.

  • Rated 5 out of 5 by from OUTSTANDING!!!!! If I had to summarize my experience with this oven in one word, it would be WOW! Breville has done it again! This company truly understands heat. I made my dough three days before I bought the oven using 00 Caputo flour from Italy. I prefer an herbaceous dough so I incorporated fresh rosemary, oregano, minced garlic, a bit of olive oil, salt, thyme, and minced sun dried tomatoes (the dehydrated kind in the bag). The dough was very cooperative; it was my first time using that flour. But the cook on the crust was exceptional! The crust was crispy and spotted on the bottom and around the perimeter of the pizza. My husband has long complained when we order pizza or have it while we are out that the pizza is never as good as mine (I make my sauce from scratch, roasting all of the fresh tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and processing them through a hand turned food mill which is likely what he misses most when we order out) so when I raised the notion of buying this highly rated oven he was all in. After eating one pizza by himself he insists that he’s never eating pizza out again. I have only used the wood fired setting as of this writing. I chose it because of the accolades it gets from other reviewers with whom I whole heartedly agree. Eventually I will make my way around to the other settings and venture into focaccia in the accompanying pan. If you love pizza, if you have a passion for pizza, if you want precise control over the quality and cook of your pizza, and if you don’t mind your family refusing to order out for pizza in the future, this oven is for you! Yes, indeed, it is spendy. It’s an investment to be sure. But when you compare it with the costs and inconveniences of a full sized outdoor wood fired pizza oven it looks increasingly reasonable. Mine was at temperature in 15 minutes. An outdoor oven can take 3 hours to come to temperature and cost 5-10 times more than this oven depending upon the model. Lastly, I’ve read that it’s impossible to recoup your money on the outdoor pizza ovens. Thus, this oven was the right solution for us. It was a splurge, but no regrets.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pizza demands practice and the patience To put it simply, this thing is a wood-fired brick oven for your counter top. If you have ever made pizza in a real wood-fired oven, you know it is a bit challenging and it takes practice to get it right. Here, timing is the most important, cooking pizza at 750° leaves little room for error. When the timer goes off (2.5 minutes) pull it out. After cooking about 4 pizzas with different dough, we noticed the dough makes a big in cooking time and finished results (which were delicious and perfect). The pizza oven comes with recipes (which we didn't follow) but looked delicious. Other than that, it's pretty easy to use! Nitty Gritty: It takes about ~15 minutes for the oven to initially heat up and needs another few minutes to reheat (back to 750°) after you cook each pizza. When you're finished cooking, a not too loud, not quiet fan needs to run for another ~15 minutes and cool the machine down before it can be powered off completely. It doesn't get smokey unless you burn your pizza of course, but we placed it on top of the range just in case. The pizza lift (metal spatula) is your best friend, make sure it's floured and the pizza can slide off smoothly on to the stone.

I noticed the stone started to crack And after washing the pan that comes with it to bake pan pizza, the teflon had come off in spots. I'd expect better accessories for the price.

We picked it up today at our local Williams Sonoma and brought it home to try. We only tried New York style first with our regular dough we make. The results were outstanding! It kicked up the pizza over the top. My husband is dancing around the kitchen with a slice of pizza now and a big smile on his face. Worth every penny! I was concerned about the crust getting too dark but it is perfect.

It also cooks them quickly which is awesome. The downside is that it can really only be used for pizza.   • Can you use parchment paper in this oven?  The raw dough gets stuck on the pizza peel.

    Sprinkle semolina flour onto the peel and the dough will easily slide right off the peel no sticking. If dough sticks add more semolina flour

    Hi Esther, Unforunately, we do not have the dimensions of the inside of the Smart Oven Pizzaiolo Pizza Oven. The heating elements in the oven have a circular layout to them, thus the best shape for use would be a round pan about 11” round and no taller than 1.75”. If you wanted to try using a square pan, we would recommend a 10” x 10” pan no taller than 1.75”. The pan that is included with the oven is just shy of 12” round and is about 1.75” tall. It is made out of carbon steel which has extreme high heat tolerance. If using a non-carbon steel pan, ensure that the oven temperature setting is not above 450-500 degrees Fahrenheit as to not damage that pan and/or affect its nonstick coating.

    I am considering this oven and it appears some of the stones crack. In the 2 videos on the WS website it shows the pizzas going directly on the deck with no stone. When should a stone be used and when should the pizza go directly on the deck?

    Hi Carrie, The oven takes 20 minutes to heat up but there's not a wait time from pizza to pizza. As soon as you take one out, you can put another one in.

    Can this take the place also as a countertop "Toaster Oven" or does it only go on very high temperatures such that heating other foods that one would use a toaster oven for, would not be a good idea?  (trying save on counter space)
