Rated 5 out of 5 by Barb from Liking this purchase! My Breville Fast Slow came a few days ago. so far I’ve made a Cuban Black Bean Soup and experimented with brown rice. This is not my first electric pressure cooker...I’ve had another brand for over 10 years. I wanted one that could also replace my crockpot. So far I am very pleased. I like that there are both preprogrammed settings and custom. My recipes turned out beautifully. To anyone who is considering an electric pressure cooker purchase: there is a learning curve. You have to take the time to read the instructions and experiment. You will have to refer to the manual often as you are learning. I’ve read some of the negative reviews about this product....maybe some people got a defective machine but I think some displayed a lack of understanding of how the product works. I personally love electric pressure cooking because I can put the ingredients in the pot and walk away. There are so many recipes available now. I really love my new Breville.Date published: 2018-12-24Rated 5 out of 5 by Judy B from Great Purchase! I have three Breville Pressure Cookers. All work. Some of the reviews that are unfavorable appear to be user issues. It pays to learn all the in's and out's of pressure cooking. I have done my fair share of goofs but I figured out what I was doing wrong and all work perfectly now. The lid does not open because of safety reasons. It still has pressure. At first I did not like the detaching of the lid, but realized the benefit. It is very easy to clean. I still have control manually if I like things more or less cooked. I mostly use the auto setting. I am pleased with my results. Yes pressure cooking saves time, but it really adds flavor to many dishes like chicken. Breville is more expensive than many other brands but I think Breville really looked at ways to improve their product and make it better. There may be times that a product will malfunction and should be replaced. It happens! I believe every cook can use a pressure cooker in their kitchen! I appreciate Breville making a wider lip for cleaning drips and spills, cleverly providing a lift lid that holds open instead of me looking for a place in my kitchen to set the hot lid down, detachment of the lid for easy cleaning, an easy operating panel, and providing the circle plug found on all my Breville electric products. I would encourage anyone to take a look at the features a pressure cooker like Breville has to offer. This is one of my favorite gifts to give my family!Date published: 2018-10-08Rated 5 out of 5 by CRKTX from Have an issue sour lid not sealing? For those who have a problem with the lid, here is your culprit. Make sure the pressure release valve is pointed towards the handle. As long as this is set correctly, and as long as the lid is turn to LOCK as far as it will go, you will not have an issue with an error message. Once I figured out the above, I have never had a single error message pop-up. I LOVE my Breville Pressure Cooker. It cooks to perfection, and is very easy to clean and operate.Date published: 2018-09-08Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 months from Reliable I bought this before The Christmas holiday but had to wait nearly 4 weeks because it was on back order. Well, it definitely was worth the wait. I have used it as a pressure cooker for roast beef and for beef stew, and have made rice, and have been impressed all times. I will now try and use it as a slow cooker. It’s pricey but worth the price I would recommend it to anyoneDate published: 2018-02-27Rated 5 out of 5 by SandraDee from I wish I had found this years ago! I love this Breville multi-cooler. A whole head of cauliflower can be steamed in minutes. Hearty stews with bone-in meat that would take a day to cook can be pressure cooked in an hour. Traditional slow cook mode works just like a crock pot. We cook a lot of Indian food, so I can sauté onions, green chili, garlic, dry spices, then meat and veggies and water or stock, change mode to slow cook or pressure cook (depending on how much time you have), close the lid and done. One shot. I love the convenience and plan to buy a second one to keep at our beach house. This would make a great wedding present because it saves a lot of time in a busy world. Great for beginner or gourmet chef.Date published: 2017-12-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Penny3241 from The greatest cooker I have had my pot for 1 1/2 years so I know this machine well. When I saw that bad review close to the top I had to tell you how great this is. There is a little learning curve but give it time. Everything is automatic it’s wonderful! All settings work perfectly. Yes it takes longer then you think it does take a bit for it to come to temp preheat then it cook fast the pressure has to be released. Write in a book notes for yourself. This is wonderful machine.Date published: 2017-12-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Raiderbgirl from Awesome Bought this over a year ago and love it. Works great every timeDate published: 2017-12-10Rated 1 out of 5 by Marculo from Don’t believe the hype When it works, the product is great. But it doesn’t work often and it's certainly not reliable. You may eat in half an hour, in three hours, or never, depending on the mood it’s in. While the product does have a few other faults, the real problem is the horribly engineered lid. You have four potential points of failure that need to be checked every time you close the lid: the aluminum nut underneath, the silicone seal, and two release valves on top. One tiny valve in particular needs to be aligned perfectly, pressing your eyeball up to the steam release, or it’s a no go. All of these are loose, unstructured, and jiggly. If the machine decides any one of these seals is inadequate, no food for you. Don’t imagine the machine simply tells you what’s wrong. Oh, no. First you wait half an hour or more for the pressure to come up, with the machine counterproductively venting pressure at random intervals. Then, when you think preheat it must be over by now, the machine vents all the pressure and tells you the lid isn’t sealed. Now you have to start over again. It may work this time, or it may not. You may eat soon, or hours from now. Of course the more times this happens, the more dry and over cooked your food becomes. Tonight I got an extra treat. I couldn’t get the lid to open. Oh, also, when you’re searing or reducing, the pot will randomly shut off and tell you either to open the lid, or that the lid is open, which obviously if you are sautéing you know the lid is open and don’t need a machine to tell you whether it is or not. Not reliable, sorry.Date published: 2017-11-14
Is the lid completely removable (like the Instant Pot lid) or is it fixed to the body of the cooker?Hi under pressure - Yes, the lid is removable. Thanks!Date published: 2018-10-29
