Rated 5 out of 5 by CharlotteNC from Must have kitchen appliance!! I purchased the Breville Fast Slow Pro Pressure Cooker several months ago. I am in love with this appliance. The features include a fast setting or a slow setting (like a slow cooker). I usually use the fast setting. It is simple to use. The appliance has a list of rice, vegetables, poultry, etc. No need to guess the setting here. Lets cook a whole chicken. Close the lid till it locks, click pressure cook, click poultry, it automatically starts and stops with a ring tone to let you know. The chicken falls off the bone in 20 minutes. Today its a rice day and Ill cook the rice in 5 minutes. It is quiet too! Breville products are top of the line. I highly recommend this pressure cooker to anyone. The instruction book gives you guidelines on items you are cooking, time it takes in the long and short version, and preparation instructions. I love my slow cooker also, but I love the pressure cooker quickness. You will not be disappointed!!Date published: 2017-09-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Ransom423 from Awesome! This is an amazingly convenient appliance! Love it. Used it to make chili, stews, rice dishes, etc. The Risotto function is amazing. Does everything in 6 minutes. The steaming function works great. And the sauté, reduce, and sear functions work phenomenal. Glad I purchased this awesome new toy :)Date published: 2017-07-03Rated 1 out of 5 by XMarlinX from Lid Does Not Lock This appliance sautees well, but the lid does not lock for pressure cooking. I and my adult son tried for 20 minutes to align and lock the lid. We failed. Could someone from Breville address this issue? But this pot.... I don't see how I lived without it! Unlike my other pressure-cooker, which I had to constantly monitor, and release steam from, which required my constant presence during the entire cooking procedure, with this pot, I can actually set it, and YES- walk away! And I LOVE how a slow-cooker can make meat so fall-off-the-bone tender, but not how I always end up with a useless thin sauce. Same goes for soups and stews that can end up too watery. This is a pot for even the most challenged cook. It's basically idiot-proof. You press a button to select a feature, like "Pressure Cook." Then you adjust the button for options like "rice" "meat," etc. Then you walk away...and come back to a wonderfully-cooked meal. If your dish is watery, simply press "Reduce" and the pot with heat up to reduce the liquid. For dishes that require browning or sauteeing, simply press "saute." No need to dirty another pan. I use this pot more than any other appliance in my kitchen now. Saves energy, too, and doesn't heat up the entire kitchen. Easy to clean. I just donated my $200 rice-cooker, my $300 pressure-cooker, and my $150 slow-cooker. I'm ecstatic about this pot!Date published: 2017-06-03Rated 5 out of 5 by alexgal from DOES TERRIFIC JOB It is truly one of the best slow/pressure cookers I've ever used. READ HOW THE MANUAL FIRST!!! The menu is very simple and easy to use, but read the manual first, before setting it up. Cooks everything to perfection. I did some beef with vegetables, turned out the best ever for the fraction of time. I have no idea what other people say about that it takes forever to get pressure, but mine does it extremely fast. Cannot be happier with my purchase!Date published: 2017-05-24Rated 1 out of 5 by Matt from Not worth the hassle Bought this recently and used it, or attempted to, for three different things in the last week — short ribs, spaghetti sauce, and chicken stock. Both the short ribs and the spaghetti sauce turned out well, but both times the cooker was finicky and required resetting the lid. It had a tendency to get hot, but took quite a while to come to pressure. Both of those meals ended up being served considerably later than anticipated. In an effort to give it one more shot, I set out to make chicken stock on the side while making dinner. After more than fifteen minutes of appearing to not come to pressure, it began to auto-release from a suddenly detected ~9 psi to nothing. I ended up dumping the stock into my dutch oven and moving it to the stove. Other notes: I found the controls on the machine to be well laid out and extremely intuitive. I found it a little bit strange that the pot itself didn't have a completely flat bottom. When sautéing for the short ribs and tomato sauce, I noticed the oil ran from the center to the edges of the pot. It's possible I just got some kind of a dud unit, but it's not worth it to me to try to make this work. I'll be returning mine.Date published: 2017-05-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Icantreallycook from If I can use this, anyone can I am a busy professional and probably get to cook dinner for my family only twice a week, so I really appreciate the speed and flavor in the meals it enables me to create. And the ease of cleaning it. I've made in less time to get my child ready for school, beef chili, beef stews, minestrone, messy lasagna, chicken teriyaki to name a few, much to my family's delight and praises. This pressure cooker is making me look really good and because of that, I am going to categorize myself as an intermediate-level cook.Date published: 2017-05-02Rated 2 out of 5 by RedhairedFlCook from Disappointed I had high hopes for the Breville pressure cooker. I loved the idea of all the different functions. However, the pressure cooker takes entirely too long to reach full pressure. I have been using the Cuisinart Electric Pressure cooker for years and it comes to full high pressure in half the time. I called Breville support and was told it could take up to 45 minutes to come to high pressure. If it takes that long to come to pressure -,it defeats the idea of cooking quickly in a pressure cooker. This pressure cooker will be returned.Date published: 2017-04-01
