- Vanilla Bean Iced Coffee Recipe
In a pitcher, stir the ground coffee into 4 cups water. Cover and let stand at room temperature for at least 12 hours or up to overnight.
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the vanilla beans, milk and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer and immediately remove from the heat. Let steep for about 20 minutes.
Select 4 tumblers. Strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl. Strain again through a coffee filter into a large, clean pitcher. Fill the glasses with ice cubes. Pour the coffee into the glasses, filling them to within 1 inch of the rim. Top each glass with 1/4 cup of the vanilla-flavored milk.
Garnish each drink with a vanilla bean pod and serve immediately. Serves 4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Birdsbud from Good, hot coffee. now at least 2 to 3 years old. Use at least once a day. I grind my own and am pretty picky but love to try new products. I did quite a lot of research cuz have used so many products that disappoint with lousy tasting coffee. I don't see the cons as that important. I take off basket and empty it and clean it in sink, then put on top. Not a big deal. First I grind beans with DeLonghi (also researched!) Put them in basket. I do grind between fine and medium. I use pre diffusion/infusion (?) And like it! Nice, rare feature. It's easy to set --- just hold button down 5 sec! It is a quick brew ! As aforementioned, empty basket and change tops, and pour. Yes, there are about 2oz left in pot. Sometime I take top off and sometimes not. Not hard to clean, use hand or brush and baking soda. Bottom line, I love this machine.Date published: 2017-09-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Moni L from Excellent coffee, simple to use We love this coffee maker! True pour over coffee taste. You get a nice cup of coffee without the oils that make it bitter. We bought this coffee maker more than a year ago, and just could not be happier. Our DeLonghi coffee maker used to leak and after I burned my hand while pouring it I gave up on it. After lots of research I am glad we settled on the Bonavita. Several costumers complain about this machine, but I believe the the most legitimate issue to complain about is that the carafe does not allow you to pour all of the coffee, there is always some coffee left that is hard to pour if you don't remove the lid. Obviously, if this is how the carafe is designed it is not a good idea to use the carafe to pour the water into the reservoir. Other than that, this is a fantastic coffee maker, which I am very happy to recommend.Date published: 2017-08-31Rated 3 out of 5 by Bobbetta805 from Some good features; many issues I have owned this product for about a year. I think it brews a very good cup of coffee, and I like the way it looks. I have the thermal carafe, and it seems to keep the coffee hot, but it is only ever in there for a couple of hours, at most. Simple and clean design. Issues: No place to put the filter basket, which must be removed in order to put on the carafe pour lid. I use a pretty ceramic bowl for this purpose. A fair amount of coffee remains stuck in the carafe, unless you are willing to remove the carafe pour lid and take your chances. Steam can be an issue, so don't put this under a cabinet. I have never been able to get the pre-infusion cycle to work - not sure why. It has some great qualities, but I think it is very overpriced for what you get.Date published: 2017-08-27Rated 2 out of 5 by Barbara from Big disappointment! After researching coffee makers for days I ordered this last November. We are serious coffee drinkers, grind our beans, measure water, clean grinder etc. It took weeks to get the proportions to our taste (never happened, settled for "ik") but continued to fight this machine. Worst problem: you have to separate contained to pour water into the tank. Similarly, you have to have the lid on to pour coffee into a cup. It is not easy to see the buttons to program it. Also, it only makes 8 cups, but if you fill it to 8, the basket usually overflows, so I sometimes have to re-make coffee or just "settle" for 7 cups. Worst of all, the coffee just isn't the rich blend I got for 8 years from the Capresso model that was discontinued. I think the product is over-rated and definitely over-priced.Date published: 2017-07-30Rated 2 out of 5 by janep from Overall pretty disappointing We've had this coffeemaker for over a year and it has finally succumbed to the seemingly very common issue of stopping mid-brew. We have to stand by to keep pressing the start button to ensure the coffee is brewed to completion, which is pretty inconvenient. The warranty only overs replacement, not refund, so we'll likely just buy a different coffeemaker. We've always had issues with the carafe. Mainly that it's impossible to get all of the coffee out of the carafe, both when cleaning and when pouring coffee. To completely empty the carafe, you have to hold it upside down and then rock or shake it back and forth, which understandably results in some spillage each time. We've gotten used to this process over the year we've owned it, but it's certainly not ideal. We do not use the program function because it's too difficult to master and set each day. The coffee produced seems fine and it's a pretty attractive appliance for countertop display.Date published: 2017-07-23Rated 1 out of 5 by anner from Junk on the Counter, Junk in the Cup This is the worst coffee maker I have ever owned. Don't waste your coffee beans. This particular coffee maker produces acidic tasting brown water, that I don't even want to call it coffee. We used the same beans for years and have made multiple grind adjustments in an attempt to salvage the review of this machine. Not only does it make the worst coffee I have ever tasted, but the design is also terrible. The lid to the carafe must be stored separately while brewing, then once you put it on you need to find a new place to put your coffee pot as it will not store under the basket.Date published: 2017-06-01Rated 1 out of 5 by jphillips from Good coffee, bad carafe Like the other reviewers, the pot makes excellent coffee but quickly goes cold in the carafe. We have had this coffee maker less than a year and the carafe already leaks. We should get a refund!Date published: 2017-05-19Rated 1 out of 5 by HonestLee from Crummy Coffee Maker... The perfect reason to not judge a book by it's cover... - Carafe doesn't maintain high temps as marketed - If made the night before, the grounds are exposed to the air overnight - 8 cups of water only produces 6 measured cups of coffee - Of those 6 cups, the last 1/4 cup is only attainable if you take off the lid, tip the carafe upside down and shake it back and forth... hopefully, ending up in a cup not on the counter.Date published: 2017-05-05
