- Vanilla Bean Iced Coffee Recipe
In a pitcher, stir the ground coffee into 4 cups water. Cover and let stand at room temperature for at least 12 hours or up to overnight.
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the vanilla beans, milk and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer and immediately remove from the heat. Let steep for about 20 minutes.
Select 4 tumblers. Strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl. Strain again through a coffee filter into a large, clean pitcher. Fill the glasses with ice cubes. Pour the coffee into the glasses, filling them to within 1 inch of the rim. Top each glass with 1/4 cup of the vanilla-flavored milk.
Garnish each drink with a vanilla bean pod and serve immediately. Serves 4.

Rated 1 out of 5 by anner from Junk on the Counter, Junk in the Cup This is the worst coffee maker I have ever owned. Don't waste your coffee beans. This particular coffee maker produces acidic tasting brown water, that I don't even want to call it coffee. We used the same beans for years and have made multiple grind adjustments in an attempt to salvage the review of this machine. Not only does it make the worst coffee I have ever tasted, but the design is also terrible. The lid to the carafe must be stored separately while brewing, then once you put it on you need to find a new place to put your coffee pot as it will not store under the basket.Date published: 2017-06-01Rated 1 out of 5 by jphillips from Good coffee, bad carafe Like the other reviewers, the pot makes excellent coffee but quickly goes cold in the carafe. We have had this coffee maker less than a year and the carafe already leaks. We should get a refund!Date published: 2017-05-19Rated 1 out of 5 by HonestLee from Crummy Coffee Maker... The perfect reason to not judge a book by it's cover... - Carafe doesn't maintain high temps as marketed - If made the night before, the grounds are exposed to the air overnight - 8 cups of water only produces 6 measured cups of coffee - Of those 6 cups, the last 1/4 cup is only attainable if you take off the lid, tip the carafe upside down and shake it back and forth... hopefully, ending up in a cup not on the counter.Date published: 2017-05-05Rated 4 out of 5 by Humbug311 from Great Coffee- Horrible carafe This machine brews excellent coffee, it is just too bad that carafe is so poorly designed that it is impossible to pour all of the excellent coffee it has brewed. Even if you unscrew the also poorly designed lid, it is simply not possible to pour the last half cup or so of coffee out of the carafe. Similarly, the design makes it virtually impossible to air dry on a rack or drying mat, and the on,y way to fully dry the interior is to shove a towel into the carafe. I have trouble understanding how, when Bonavita switched from the cone basket to the flat basket and consequently changed the carafe, no one noticed this very obvious problem. I would nevertheless recommend it with reservations due to the quality of the coffee itself.Date published: 2017-04-15Rated 2 out of 5 by Hate this from Hate it A store associate talked me into purchasing this one. He told me that he personally owned it and that it is wonderful! I hate it and it makes me crabby when I use it at the start of each day! Pros-makes a hot cup of coffee relatively quickly, has a thermal carafe so you don't have to worry about a burnt coffee taste, no bad looking. Cons-If you put too much water in your carafe when filling the water reservoir, it starts leaking (carafe does not equal reservoir amount), the basket is placed on top of carafe so yiu cannot grab a midcycle cup, but also when it is fobe, you need to carry a dripping container holding grinds to the trash in order to just get to your coffee to put the carafe lid on! I have tol have my maker next to the trash or else I'll have always to wipe floors afterwards. Stupid design to have the grinds basket sitting on top of carafe! Lastly, you need to get the carafe lid on quickly or your pot of coffee will get cold so you can't brew it and say jump in shower and get ready.Date published: 2017-04-10Rated 2 out of 5 by Kendall from Stops brewing mid cycle I've had this coffee maker a little over a year and even though I descale regularly, the coffee makers tops brewing mid cycle, leaving half the water in the tank. Also coffee does not stay hot long enough. Does make delicious coffe when working properly.Date published: 2017-02-12Rated 2 out of 5 by Karolyne from Topless too often The coffee's good, but the lid is a continual annoyance. When I depress it to pour coffee, the top piece of the lid goes flying (distance shown in photo attached). It is extremely difficult to properly align the top part to the base of the lid, which means the coffee sits there lidless cooling down, while I fiddle with the top. It happens almost daily.Date published: 2017-01-29Rated 1 out of 5 by jbweidenbach from Makes great coffee, but a waste of money If you are in the market for a new coffee pot look on. Do not purchase. Makes a great cup of coffee however if you do not drink the entire pot in 20 minutes it is cold. The programming features are tedious and not very convenient or easy. I am very disappointed in this coffee maker considering it is rather expensive. I highly regret getting it and would not suggest it to anyone.Date published: 2016-12-27
