Rated 4 out of 5 by Laurie from Easy, Efficient & Tasty Coffee I hadn't used one of these kinds of stove top coffee makers in decades but recently had some Cuban coffee while on vacation and wanted to make it at home "old style". Once I'd prepared the pot for brewing (you have to do a preliminary brew which you toss), I made a pot for my husband and I. It was delicious and exactly what I had hoped for; rich, deep flavor and enough to make 2 decent amounts of espresso for a nice sized latte. Also does not take anymore time to brew than my regular coffee maker overall. There aren't much in the way of instructions included that are helpful - for instance, it doesn't mention you should keep the lid off while brewing nor does it really say anything about the temperature of the water to use (hint: start with hot water from the microwave; it will brew much faster) but I looked it all up on line before I used it so I was aware beforehand. I would have given this 5 stars if more detailed instructions were included. We'll make good use of this pot for sure. Going to bring it with us on vacation this summer as it's light enough to pack with us for the condo we've rented and it will be a nice addition to have an iced Cafe Cubano in the mornings!Date published: 2019-04-22Rated 3 out of 5 by CoffeeGuy86 from Smaller than Advertised I purchased the 6-cup / 12 fl oz capacity Bialetti Moka Express from the Williams-Sonoma online store. I quickly learned that the pot only produces 8 fl oz of coffee, not 12 fl oz as advertised by W-S. I measured the water capacity (to just below the safety valve) by volume and by weight. The result: 10 fl oz / 301 grams! As advertised on Williams-Sonoma, the pot has a capacity of 12 fl oz and produces up to six, 2 fl oz cups of coffee. Impossible when the pot only holds 10 fl oz of water! Also, the coffee grounds will always hold some amount of water. For this pot, the grounds hold 2 fl oz of water. Even if the water capacity were as advertised, it would still not produce six, 2 fl oz cups of coffee. So, what is advertised as a 6 cup (2 fl oz per cup) pot only produces 4 cups (2 fl oz per cup). That’s a 33% reduction in advertised output for 100% of the price. Very disappointed in the incorrect product description as I now own a pot that is smaller than what I paid for.Date published: 2018-05-07Rated 4 out of 5 by RebeccaHe from Pretty good for the price I got the 3 cup size because I really only like one (rather large) shot of espresso in the morning. It makes a nice, rich cup though there's no crema and it's not as full-bodied as with a standard espresso maker (but the price is hard to beat). I also like that I can take it camping with me and have espresso around the campfire :) Note: keep an eye on it as it brews; if you don't take it off the fire IMMEDIATELY it will percolate and you'll burn your coffee.Date published: 2017-05-22Rated 5 out of 5 by AdrianJ1981 from High Quality Product; High Quality Taste The coffee extracts within 5 -7 minutes of heating, and produces a strong and flavorful cup. Design makes it durable and easy to clean, preserving its silver shine after each use. As a matter of fact, I think I'll have a cup now.Date published: 2016-06-24Rated 5 out of 5 by SoulSong from Perfect and simple I have used an electric espresso machine for many years and decided I wanted to reclaim this counter space and simplify. I absolutely LOVE this little espresso maker. It is simple to use, makes great espresso in whatever quantity I want and takes up very little space. I took it to Colorado with me and now both of my sisters have purchased one. I learned how to use it from some really good YouTube videos.Date published: 2016-04-19Rated 3 out of 5 by Cooksy from Sturdy and Cute! The espresso maker does the job. I would have preferred a two-cup size but none was available. Very easy to use and reminds me of the ones my parents and grandparents had so the nostalgia factor makes up for size.Date published: 2016-02-26Rated 5 out of 5 by pattykins from great coffee I have used the espresso maker several times now and I am getting the hang of how to use it in order to produce a great cup of coffee.Date published: 2016-01-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Jetch from Wonderful Morning Boost Simple to use and quick brewing time; faster than French press and automatic brewers. I use it on a glass top on 7.5 heat setting and works like a charm. Make sure the top is screwed on tightly (don't use handle as leverage) so there's no "spattering," and don't fill the well above the safety valve. I've used these espresso makers many times throughout the past, and it always brews delicious espresso.Date published: 2015-08-26
Can you make regular coffee with this?Hi Cait, No, this does not make traditional coffee. You can always make an espresso and add hot water to it to make an Americano.Date published: 2019-06-22
