- Coffee Granita Recipe
In a pitcher or bowl, combine the coffee and the 3/4 cup sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour the mixture into a 9-by-13-inch glass baking dish or other shallow container. Place in the freezer. When the mixture starts to get icy around the edges, after about 1 hour, use a spoon to stir and break up the ice crystals. Return to the freezer. From that point, stir well every 15 minutes until the mixture forms fine, firm, icy flakes, 2 to 2 1/2 hours more.
In a bowl, using an electric mixer or a whisk, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Beat in sugar and brandy to taste.
To serve, scoop the coffee ice into glasses or serving dishes. Top with the whipped cream, dividing it evenly. Lightly dust each serving with cocoa.
Rated 5 out of 5 by stxenia from Expensive, but AWESOME I have never loved my cup of home brewed coffee THIS MUCH until I got this grinder!!! Its super easy and quiet to use. I grind it fresh every morning, in a matter of seconds. I hesitated due to the price, but I am super duper glad I bought it, for something I use at least once a day. Really makes a superior cup of coffee!Date published: 2015-09-21Rated 5 out of 5 by MNFrequentFlyer from Favorite Grinder I have had this grinder for 6 years. I have never had a problem. Every 4 months I clean the grinder and the process is swift and easy. Highly recommend it you won't be disappointed.Date published: 2015-04-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Jefft from Excellent longevity and customer support I have owned my Virtuoso for 7 1/2 years without a single problem. The only thing I have had to replace was the conical grinders, which are a wear item. Every time I have called or emailed customer service I was quickly responded to wih a phone call. My brother bought a refurbished unit when he had an issue, they sent him a brand new one (not another refurb) for no extra cost. In my years of experience working with hem I can't recommend their products enough.Date published: 2015-02-21Rated 2 out of 5 by chw2krw3 from Lasted only 2½ years Motor just gave out today. Just would think something that cost so much would last a little longer? Followed instructions to the T on how to keep it cleaned etc. Won't be buying this brand again :-(Date published: 2013-08-31Rated 5 out of 5 by Moonflower from Excellent product for 5 plus years.... I have been using this machine for over 5 years and have loved it. It has given me the best grinds that I need for espresso up to coarse grind. Sorry to hear of the other reviews where it quit. Must be a malfunction in that particular production as I have had no complaints!!Date published: 2013-01-17Rated 1 out of 5 by asneezeachoo from Didn't even get to try it out I got this grinder as a wedding shower gift. My mother in law specially ordered it in for me and when I tried to use it, I could not even get it to work. We then brought it back to the store and exchanged it for another brand new grinder. Because of the previous problem, we asked the store clerk to demonstrate how to use it and the grinder didn't work! I thought that maybe the grinder I was given was damaged in shipping as it was ordered online, but it apparently seems to be a problem right out of the box. I bought the Cuisinart grinder (older version) and it has yet to fail me three years later.Date published: 2013-01-14Rated 1 out of 5 by Moana1350 from Disapointed I used this once and I could not get it grind anymore. It appeared to be a quality product and seemed like it was something of a more professional product.Date published: 2013-01-03Rated 5 out of 5 by SLCcooks from Great Grinder This is a great grinder -- it does it all. The espresso grind is uniformly fine, and the coarse settings (i.e., French press) are equally accurate. I did a great deal of research and watched more YouTube videos than reasonable -- and while the Breville is decent, the Baratza is more accurate across a wider range of grind settings. I would buy another in a heartbeat. (The first one WS sent didn't work, but the exchange process was easy and painless.)Date published: 2012-12-21
