Rated 5 out of 5 by Ber6398 from Amazing soup plates that are versatile & stunning! I absolutely love these gorgeous plates! I ordered the Apilco traditional soup plates first and was underwhelmed (the reviews are accurate it is a very small portion) so I tried the Grande soup plates and they are perfect. Great for a good sized portion of soup, pasta or salad! Most noticeable difference is the Grande plate looks and feels more like a bowl than a wide plate which is more along the lines of the traditional soup plate. I was going to order pasta bowls but this lovely does it all so no need! They are porcelain so bit on the heavy side (too heavy for my grandmother’s fragile hand strength) but the quality can be felt and is beautiful. Everything served in this plate looks fancy :) I’ve included pics of the Grande soup plate vs. the traditional for others to get a feel for size & portion difference in case that helps!Date published: 2018-06-20Rated 5 out of 5 by MGHMD from You'll Never Look at Soup the Same Way Again We are using these so much more often than we thought we would, because we love them. They turn every simple bowl of soup into an event! Solid and stylish.Date published: 2017-01-26Rated 5 out of 5 by lovekitchenstuff from Consider buying both sizes I agonized whether to buy these Tres Grande bowls or the smaller Traditions bowls when I first (and finally) bought a set of Apilco. I ended up buying both and the versatility is really worth the price. I use these Tres Grande bowls primarily for pasta and, while a very modest portion will fit and present nicely in either size, a hearty portion does so much better in the larger bowl......and then I can use the smaller bowls for the salad or dessert. If I'm having a big salad as a "meal," it would overpower the salad plate or the smaller bowl, but this Tres Grande bowl is just perfect. As I open the cabinet for a bowl, I honestly find myself thinking, "Which size?" and I really appreciate being able to choose the one that fits the need. The other question I ask myself is "Why did I wait so long to get this set of dishes?" They showcase everything. My husband has remarked that even leftovers look better on these plates and bowls.Date published: 2016-03-09Rated 5 out of 5 by IrishupFL from Fantastic Set. Worth the price! I just received a set of these bowls. I bought them online so didn't have the chance to see how sturdy they were -- I bought one set as to not hassle with a large return if I didn't like them. Well -- I am online ready to purchase my second set so I have service for 8. They are well proportioned and extremely sturdy -- will easily accommodate salads, soups or a nice bowl of pasta. My table is set for dinner tonight!Date published: 2013-09-18Rated 5 out of 5 by Cooklette from Most useful Apilco piece in my collection I've accumulated quite a few pieces of Apilco dinnerware from various collections. This particular soup plate gets the most use out of all of them. I don't always use it for soup. The raised edge make it perfect for anything with sauce (pasta) and volume! The plate is very thick and sturdy. You won't be disappointed in making this investment.Date published: 2013-08-01
